While I agree with the general point of the op-ed, the lack of polish means that one liner is going to be the only thing anyone pays attention to and it won't be in a good light.
I am sorry you lost your child. I myself have a son and daughter and the one thing I never want to go through, is what you are going through now. But:

As harsh as this sounds – your dead kids don’t trump my Constitutional rights.

He is right. The aggrieved parents should sue the perp's family for wrongful death - for all they have and more. That's where justice will come from.
