Back in the '80s, we used to take the kids to the National Zoo about every year as one day of our annual Smithsonian trip. Back then it seemed to be a very kid-and-family-friendly place and I felt my family was almost as safe there as they were in our own front yard. Looks like that's no longer true - - if it ever was.

Now now, my dad told me about the "neighborhood group" wars of his youth, when the Rotarians would pull drive bys on the Lions Club, who would retaliate with execution style killings.

The euphemisms the media resorts to in order to avoid stating "black gangbangers" are getting tragicomic.

"Neighborhood groups", oy.
