Hey all... I have finally been able to break my fiance's fear of guns; and we have been to the range numerous times (shooting mostly my Mossberg 702 plinkster). She has shot my Ruger LCP 9mm a few times; but with her carpal tunnel syndrome, she complains for a few days after the fact about her wrists bothering her. Well; we have been looking at a few .22's, and so far the one she has liked the most is the Ruger SR-22. I was wondering if any other members on here have this gun; and what are their thoughts on this.... She is also considering going to get her CCW permit; and I know everyone always says that a .22 is not a good gun for defensive carry, but both her and I are believers that even the draw of the gun when necessary is enough to make a possible criminal think twice (also; I firmly believe that it is not the size of the gun that matters, but shot placement).

The SR-22 is a great gun for training. We have one and our students love it.

She is also considering going to get her CCW permit;

While that makes sense on the surface, its the total opposite of what you should be doing and thinking. I'd be happy to explain it to her after a class.

If you think you might be going to the Ruger in 9mm then the Ruger .22 is probably a good choice.

I bought a M&P .22 to "step down" from my M&P 9MM and .357 SIG/.40 S&W guns. Its the same size, controls work the same, etc. Still haven't shot the darn thing.

My Wife loves her Sig 1911 .22 . She shoots it all the time. She is very comfortable with it and there fore she wants to shoot it a lot. She also shoots my 1911 .45 because it is the same size , but only will shoot it a few times.

Also try the Ruger SR9C. My wife has carpel tunnel and says my 9C is easier on her than the LCP (.380).

She likes the M9 best but that is a bigger gun.

SR22 Ruger with the extended barrel also serves as a nice weapon with a supressor. Just sayin'...

My wife loves her Ruger SR22. Its about the only caliber she will shoot. She has difficulties handling slides since she injured her hand. I must admit I also enjoy putting a few down range
