USMC makes stupidity an official policy

Post by grumpyMSG »

Well the USMC has decided that gun free zones are the direction they want to go: http://kitup.military.com/2014/04/marin ... ent-102573

When will a Soldier, Sailor or Marine attempt to take someone to court over these policies? It seems to me that you could even use one of the biggest gun grabbers arguments against the policy. They have saying that the second amendment only applies to the militia. They would never be able to win the argument that Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen were part of the Militia and as such they have the right and expectation to be able to keep and bear arms. I joined the active Army in 1982 and they made horribly difficult to own weapons back then, needing commander's authorization, keeping them in the unit arms room. In most cases single Soldiers living in the barracks who wanted to own firearms worked with a married member of the unit to arrange to keep their weapons off post so they didn't have to go through the red tape of bringing them on post.
You just have to ask yourself, is he telling you the truth based on knowledge and experience or spreading internet myths?

Those rules have been in place at Quantico for some time.

I think its ridiculous. Members of the military should always be allowed to carry on base for the same reason private citizens should off base. Criminals, even the ones serving our country, don't care about the "rules" (laws). It just disarms highly trained and trusted individuals and makes them an easy target.

Time and time again, killers go on a rampage, totally challenged and without fear of repercussion... right up to the point when a good guy with a gun FINALLY shows up and the incident ends. Lets just arm everyone so either it never starts or ends as quickly as possible. It's insanity what the law/rule makers are doing.

The military is very risk averse. Rules, rules, rules. Risk management training. If I run on base, I am supposed to wear a reflective vest, even if it is daylight. So who really thinks they will allow personal possession of guns on a military base?

Between Lawyers, Politicians, and Bureaucrats, we're becoming an extremely controlled society.

I sometimes wonder what it will actually take for us to finally "WAKE UP" ! Then it will be too late.

Col. David Hackworth had a group classification for the people who make these rules "Perfumed Princes"
The Perfumed Prince's sole motivation is promotion. If the Prince needs to sacrifice troops for a good annual evaluation so be it.
Prince's evaluation is not enhanced by troops shooting one another or troopers getting injured while running.
