(CNN) -- [Breaking news update, posted at 9:04 a.m. ET]

At least 20 students were injured in Wednesday morning's stabbing incident at the Pittsburgh area's Franklin Regional Senior High School, said Dan Stevens, an emergency management agency spokesman.

Four were flown to hospitals by helicopter, he said.

A message on the Franklin Regional School District's website said all of its elementary schools were closed after the incident, and "the middle school and high school students are secure."

OMG

Well this will prove to be interesting conversation for today. Reminds me of the Chinese Knife attack a couple of weeks back at the train station.

My thoughts and prayers are out for the victims.

Oh my Lord. I will pray for the victims of the blade wielder.
This is sad.

Isn't this a no weapons area? (note: I am being Facetious.)

*shakes head* This will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Lord help those poor children.

Anything can be made into a weapon. It is not the object but the user of the object that makes it dangerous. A screwdriver can be an amazing tool that can save lives or it can be a devastating weapon.

How's that "zero tolerance" policy working out? Thank God he wasn't twirling a pencil with a pen cap on it or eating a pop-tart! Who knows how many more may have been hurt!

Just heard a reporter on CNN ask an "expert" what they would have been facing if it was a gun instead of knifes.

Why the hell would they say such an idiotic thing? What would have happened if he use a machete, or a tank, or a rabid squirrel? Is the right hand of the government (AKA the liberal media) really going to use a "stabbing" as an opportunity to push more anit-gun brainwashing and legislation?

I'm really getting disgusted with the people in power right now. The mid-terms and Presidential elections can't happen soon enough.

No one needs a knife over 2 1/2 inches... It was an "Assault Sword" with a detachable clip for resharpening.

Strangely enough, they should view society as a prison. Ask the C/O's about "shanks". Rrrriiiiiggggghhhttt.

At the prison I worked at they made shanks out of the s-curved bed springs and from the 3 inch safety screws that they supposedly could not get loose.
We found 36 in one pod during a shakedown once.

I read that there was also a stabbing in an Office Building in Toronto today. Not much details as of yet, but I'm sure more will follow.

I think the biggest single generator of these sick-minded mass attacks is NOT the availability of ANY kind of weapon. The primary causative agents are:
(1) the orgy of media attention these atrocities generate
(2) the way psychotropic drugs/painkillers/nerve pills are passed out like gumdrops
(3) gratuitously violent movies and video games
(4) half-assed and/or non-existent parenting

The above evils cannot be alleviated by legislation; although they might be helped by repealing some. But kicking a lot of parents' and not a few doctors' asses would help a GREAT DEAL.

Lol. Last time I tried to make a one character post, it wasn't accepted. So, I was just filling in extra characters while attempting to appear on topic.

So, yeah, in favor :)
