I am trying to find a place to shoot that doesn't require me to drive for an hour. I have been over to the NRA range...but with traffic and all, that is a PITA. Any in the area?

The Cove campground range is a great place to shoot and it is all out doors. Nothing fancy but for $15 you can shoot all day Bring your own everything and have fun.

we are going to have our Shoot and Greet there this year, so since you are that close you might want to come on out and meet everyone and sling some lead :tommygun: :pistol: :ak47: :machinegun: :packin:

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Theres a few in the area. Isaac Walton is 30 minutes north of you in Frederick County along Rt 50. 340 Defense is on Rt 340 just north of the VA/WV state line and is also about 30 minutes away. Clarke Brothers is in Warrenton. It's a little bit farther than the others.

Isaac Walton is membership-only. It's tough to get in but may be worth it since their shooting pads are covered.

340 Defense is public but runs a bit on the expensive side and no roofs over the shooting pads, but overall a relaxed atmosphere. The rifle ranges are nice too.

Clarke Bros... well, search around on here for reviews for that place.

Maybe a little farther than you were looking for, but if I lived in Front Royal I would join PNTC. It's just across the VA line North of Winchester.

I am a member of the Winchester Frederick County Conservation Club (WFCCC). It takes me about 45 minutes from Front Royal. There is an Izaak Walton chapter in Browntown, Warren county. Friends of mine tried to get me into the Frederick County Izaak Walton chapter, but unfortunately Warren county residents are not allowed. Because we have a chapter of our own. The WFCCC website is below.

+1 for Peacemaker National Training Center. Hands down one of the best shooting facilities this side of the US!
