Assembly drops plan to boost HOA powers

"After encountering rising opposition from both liberal and conservative wings of the legislature, a plan to empower weak homeowners associations legislatively was removed from an HOA reform bill before the General Assembly adjourned this month. Advocates for community associations said state law should provide a way to levy fines and other penalties on members who do not follow their communities' rules, even if the community charter did not provide for those penalties."

Glad to see this. We have enough amateur Nazis in the world already.

Where I grew up we didn't need community nazi's. Everyone took care of their own property. If you didn't like it you didn't look at it.
I HATE HOA's (This comes from a guy that is the treasure of his HOA, and whose wife is the President). We have people who refuse to pay then are mad at us and call us names when we go after the money. My HOA provides street lights and trash service and snow plowing. We are a single street and 1/10 of a mile long. I mow all the common areas I do all the maintenance for the HOA on the grounds and equipment. We don't have a landscape contract. It was so mis managed before us we have to raise the dues up almost $200 in two years. It sucks. I hate it.

We hate the HOA as well. No need to give them more power. We will never ever buy in an HOA again.
