More toys? At my age? Heck, WHY NOT?

Well, it looks like my daughter is hellbent on taking her precious little munchkins to Disneyworld next month. And it looks like SWMBO is fully invested in the project. So, guess who has reserved a condo in Orlando and bought a handful of airplane tickets? Guess who's going to get the bill for it? I'll give you a hint: Don't be looking for ME to do much posting in the "SHOW OFF YOUR NEW HARDWARE" section anytime soon.

Now, I love my daughter and I absolutely dote on my granddaughters. But I HATE Disneyworld. But won’t nothin’ else do SWMBO but for me to go; although I drew the line at staying all week. Sunday through Tuesday and I’m outa there. A man can only stand so much.

BUT, in an effort to “capture the rapture”, I just acquired a couple of those GoPro Cameras and various related paraphernalia on the theory that if we strap one on one or more munchkins and/or one on a parent/grandparent, we can get some pretty slick pictures and video. The loot arrived yesterday, and I’ve been looking it and the various tutorials over today. And after due consideration I’ve decided that I have probably once again bought stuff I ain’t smart enough to use. So, today I FedExed one camera and stuff off to daughter “so she can learn how to use it”. Only hope for me is to try to figure out how to turn t'other camera on and off and foist it off on the son-in-law as soon as we land in Florida. Well, to tell the truth, I’m sure I can figure it out, but I just ain’t sure I want to bother. The type on the damned manual is microscopic, for one thing. But after somebody else teaches me how, I can think of some pretty cool stuff to do with them. Now I really am thinking seriously about buying a drone. Think that PETA offer is still open? I guess maybe you could put a camera on one of those head or chest mounts and film your target practice or bird hunt, but the way I shoot nowadays I'd have to figure out how to do that anonymously. I do want to experiment with filming some shots fired and target impacts using the slow motion function, but I don't know if it slows things down enough to really be worth doing. Or maybe lower it into a fishing hole and make a trout movie. I'm sure as time passes I'll think of other stuff. Hmmm... same old same old. You see something you think you can't live another day without, and then when you get it, you wonder what you're going to do with it.

Anybody else messed with GoPro cameras any?

On the bright side, at least you're not posting in the WTS section either! :hysterical:

GoPros on the little ones is a GREAT idea. While you may hate Disneyworld, you're gonna love the video that comes of it.

I've been wanting a couple of cameras to stick on the truck; I could get some cool footage that way.

I'd be disinclined to go to any Disney park. Walt would be very disappointed in the parks that bear his name.

Avoid the Sheraton Suites Orlando Airport, by the way. The GM has run that joint to the ground, and I have seen the kitchen there.

On a side note, having shared the road with both Fed Ex and UPS drivers, I'd be more inclined to ship via UPS, just because the UPS drivers seem to have an overall better grasp of road etiquette. Also, even the people at the Chicago UPS terminal are very pleasant.

Instead of filming what they see, you should try Si Vision.
