I bought a Mauser K98 and wanted to shoot it, so I found some cheap Milsurp Persian 8mm 1954 ammo
from SAMCO 400 rounds shipped for 145.00.
I got got it a couple days ago and took my k98 to the range to try it out...

The gun is great, the ammo sucks

it was 100% bad 50% FTF and 50% hangfire up to 1.5 seconds. two actually were closer to 3 seconds.

the ammo looked good out of the box

here was the result.

So stay away from surplus Persian Ammo and from SAMCO's stuff,

What has happened to all the Surplus ammo, I have noticed that the 8mm, 7.62x54R and .30 cal Garand (30-06) is dwindling and prices are going up.
one online store said that recent EO's have blocked Milsurp ammo from being imported. So what left here is what you get and that's it.

I am really getting frustrated over this Ammo situation - so if President "O" can't get gun control he will limit the available ammo?

Anyone know where to get good cheap 8mm mauser ammo under 40 cents per round??

Sending us defective 8mm ammo is part of the mullahs' military strategy to defeat the Great Satan.

I think there is a lot of new interest in the M1 Garand, not only for collections but to shoot. Consequently, a balloon in demand for the ammo.

those rounds look like they have been wet, judging from the varnish around the primer. It probably seeped into the case.

If you can just pull the bullet and put a new primer in and reload the brass, but be carefull on you powder charges till you find the right load and that 400 rounds will last quite a while

I have the option to send it back for a refund or keep it - a 145.00 shipped for 400 rounds is not bad since the brass alone is almost 40 cents a round shipped http://www.midwayusa.com/product/536277 ... -box-of-50,

in the meantime I was going to buy some russian steel case stuff and it all sold out today... what gives I have been watching this stuff for 2 weeks and it did not move then today they are selling out.. even 7.62x54R is going fast..
