Hello everyone,
Just wanted to say hello and state that there is going to be a new gun store opening in the Northern Virginia area called NOVA Armament. We will be located in downtown Herndon, VA off of Center Street. We are currently in the construction phase and have applied for our FFL. We expect to be open at the end of October-early November timeframe with the ability to sell firearms either after Thanksgiving or right before Christmas (hopefully).
We are working on a webpage and will soon have some other information coming soon. Please PM us if you have any questions or desires.

Welcome aboard NOVA. Good luck with the FFL process and getting your business off the ground.

That is wonderful! I drive over there frequently, and would love to add a nearby gun shop to my shopping lists.

Herndon isn't too far from where I work. I will definitely be dropping by.

Since I am not in NC, and I own a gun (4 actually), will you be my best friend?
If I ever come up that way, when you get your FFL of course, I will definitely be dropping by. I will also announce to the world that I am indeed MuShu and have officially arrived at your place of business.

If you are referring to my post. The poster about me mentioned the VCDL and them being your best friend if you are a gun owner. So, I said that I was a gun owner and wondered if he would be my best friend. Kind of a play on words and changing the subject matter around a little bit.
Any word on the FFL yet?

Thank you for the warm welcome. We should be getting our FFL by Thanksgiving (just in time for those wonderful X-mas presents). We plan on opening the retail section sooner, probably mid-November, to ammunition and accessory sales.
One of our owners is a Card Carrying VCDL member, and NRA Life Member, and occasional GOA member (when he remembers to put the application in the mail) the other guys haven't really listed their memberships as of yet, but they are definitely Pro-Gun.
We will be offering training courses, at first just covering your NRA Basic Pistol for now so folks can get their Concealed Carry Licenses.
As for inventory, give us some ideas, what would you like to see?

holsters, reloading stuff (components--bullets, brass, primers, powders; equipment--presses, dies, case prep., scales, etc.), cleaning supplies, grips, magazines, safety equipment, clothing...
You know, the usual.
Of the stuff I listed, I'd say that the reloading components would bring steady business (at least, from me for .38 Special and .45 ACP, and occasionally .44 Magnum/Special and maybe .223) and cleaning supplies since that stuff is consumable and recurring...everything else kinda depends on having a steady supply of new shooters/new toys/new needs to drive demand.
Loaded factory ammo would definitely bring steady business, too--.22, .380, 9mm, .38, .40, .45, .223 are most of what I see casings for on the range floor.
Having a selection of gun safes and gun storage options (soft-cases, hard-cases, cable locks, etc.) would be a good idea.
Non/less-lethal self defense weapons like pepper sprays would be cool to see, too.
Will y'all do transfers? Out of state? In-state? Consignment sales? Used-gun sales?

"Surplus" is always a good idea in my opinion. Love the old military stuff.
Please give us an opening date when you can. Good luck with your new store.

I'd like to see surplus ammo sales. For general practice I just need something that goes bang, not high-end ammo. .223, 7.62 X 39, .308, 9mm and .45 ACP surplus would keep me coming back.
I'm really looking forward to your shop opening, best of luck with it.

Hopefully I can answer some questions here:
Will y'all do transfers? Yes. We're still working on the policy, but let's just say it's gonna beat anything else out there.
Out of state? Yep. Even to California. We gotta help them all we can.
In-state? Yep. You can even bring both parties in to do the paperwork.
Consignment sales? Yep. We're still working on the policy, but it's gonna be nice.
Used-gun sales? Yep. This is where the cool stuff is usually found.
Ammo sales: We will be selling all of the normal popular brands, just looking for a good supplier where we can pass along a good price.
Less-than-Lethal? We're looking into that. Probably stuff like Pepper Spray, Stun Guns, that kind of thing. Tasers are proving interesting.
Surplus? Probably some stuff, but not like you see in the SportsmansGuide where you can purchase a Swiss Artillery carrier.
SIze? We're approximately 800 square feet located in a retail "condo" in Herndon VA off of Center Street.
Opening? Hopefully Mid November for gun-related stuff and then after Thanksgiving for guns.

I tend to frequent the shops where I can pick up the used long arms and look them over without having to track down a store employee (similar to Gilberts and Clark Bros).

Hmm, looks like I am going to have to make a big trip up to that area of the world to meet all of you cool people, go hunting, and do some shooting.
And as far as the distributors go. Line up a few of them so you can pick and choose which ones you want to use and at which times. But don't tell them that.

For the love of God can you please carry some IWB holsters and at least a few for us left-handers!
(especially for SIG 229 and CZ-75 pistols).

Left-Handers? Sure thing. That's actually a section we're thinking of stocking. Maybe some left-handed AR-15s, and bolt guns as well.

Left handed AR? Judging by the sales of the regular AR's at the shops right now, I am going to have to give some business advice on this one. 1-2, Max. There, you have been advised. Bill is in the mail.
