I saw this on Facebook today, Virginia Self Defense Law ( http://www.vaselfdefenselaw.com/ )

Looks like a new law firm specializing in defending gun owners. I have always thought that it was a good idea to have a defense lawyer on retainer if you carry a firearm. I like seeing that Ken Cuccinelli is involved. I wonder if he is just lending his name to the firm or if he is really representing clients.
I am thinking of signing my wife and myself up. She doesn't carry, but has access to all guns at home for personal and home defense.
Wanted to know if anyone has any thoughts on this?

I have some questions that need to be answered before I got involved with them.

1.) Is KC actually practicing out of the office? I've heard of Garret. The two of them make a pretty good start to a stacked deck. I would drive there for a visit and lay eyes on the man before before I let his name impact my choice.

2.) I have a retainer with a former State's attorney and it was free. Why is this one hundreds of dollars and what am I getting for my money?

3.) They say no "up front" cost... but what is the hourly rate that comes with my retainer? A good criminal attorney could cost $1,500 an hour. A team of good attorneys could cost you $50,000 a day. Of course you can't put a price on your freedom... but they will. Are you willing to pay it or can someone else get the job done for a more reasonable price.

Also... a quick warning. If you pay them any money via the website, it says you are not getting a retainer agreement right then and there. They need to have a conference with them first. Paying cash up front for nothing and hoping I get my money back if they reject me does not sound like a game I want to play. Another good reason to go see them face-to-face.
