Since I got my LASIK eye surgery about 5 weeks ago my mother has not been letting me shoot for fear of a 17 Mach II blowing my face off. Well, I made it to my back porch on Tuesday afternoon to shoot a squirrel in the face at approximately 150 yards. Shot him square between the eyes, on the first shot. First shot taken post-surgery. Well, I was really excited. I have a hawk that likes to hang around the area because the area behind my house is wooded and there is a big field with TONS of critters running around. He decided that it would be better off if he had the squirrel and he was carrying it off when I got my shoes on and walked down into the field to retrieve my squirrel.

After my "oh my gosh, that hawk is taking my squirrel" experience I headed to my mother's boyfriend's house where I set up some clays on some trees about 150 yards away also. All, except one were turned flat, towards me. I dropped each one of those in one shot (9 total) except for the one that I had positioned sideways with only the profile of the clay to hit. It took me three shots to hit it, it was hard to see because the sun is still pretty harsh on my eyes. I wanted to shoot more, but the sun was killing me and I couldn't see well enough to hang another set of rounds up on the trees.

The gun is a Savage 17 Mach II with a heavy barrel, 3-9x40 BSA Sweet 17 Mach II scope (AWESOME scope for the money, has yardage up to 300 yards for the round), a bi-pod that I got from Wal Mart for $40 (can't beat it for an entry level bi pod), heavy barrel, and I was shooting the 17 grain Hornady Mach II rounds.

If you don't mind me asking, who did your surgery and about how much was it? One of these days I really should get it done.

Oh, where are you? Doesn't help me to know who did it if they are not close enough to me. LOL

I am located in Mount Airy, NC 27030.

Dr. Alan Carlson, Chief of the Duke Center for Vision Correction, did the surgery. He has done over 15,000 LASIKs I think and over 43,000 eye procedures.

He is located in Durham, NC at the Duke Aesthetic Center, but you have to be referred to him by someone else inside of the Duke Community. I saw Dr. Semchyshyn in Winston Salem before I saw Dr. Carlson. I think that you may be able to call his office at 336-768-3240 for more information on it.

The cost was a well worth it $5,100, but I had to have it to get into the NAVY. I want to be a SEAL and this surgery was a necessity to ensure my eyes were up to the tests I must pass in order to become a SEAL.
