Snowmageddon part 3
Oh this is gonna hurt!
Right now the most conservative people are saying 12 inches in chesterfield. My BIL who is a meterologist and is always more accurate than the locals says...."hahaha...you're gonna get squashed with up to 20 inches."
I like snow....but this is gonna hurt!

Figures. I'm about to come home for a few days. Iwas hoping to get away from that white death, for a while.
At least I get to be in Florida today. But, I should be getting back tomorrow night.

Looks like we're going to be right on the edge of it again and get only light snow. Thank goo'ness. Been right lucky so far this year. From what I can tell about those weather maps, these ever-lovin' mountains appear to be actually shielding us from that blast from the north.

Now I wish I hadn't opened this thread - OMG, 12 to 20 inches! This tree hugger's paradise that I live in is HE-double-sticks on power lines when there is appreciable wind, snow, ice, etc., etc. The linemen hate it because of the number of "widow makers" - trees that fall when when least expected.mamabearCali wrote:Oh this is gonna hurt!

In brief, older folks like my wife & I dread severe weather. I'm too old and decripit to deal with the results! So we may be spending a couple of nights in a hotel room east of I-95.
Let us hope!

You might know it.....I've been trying to get my land cleared in Dinwiddie. Every time the driveway dries out enough to bring equipment in without tearing it completely up .....It rains or snows. This Winter seems colder and longer than usual, I'm ready for Sunny and 80 !!!!
Re: Snowmageddon part 3
The high school called this evening & said, that due to the upcoming weather, school will be getting out 2hrs early tomorrow.
I got the generator warmed up, filled up, & extra gas just in case. Buddy brought his tractor over this afternoon to plow my road in the coming days. Guess we'll see what happens....I ain't skeered.

Time to hit the grocery store and stock up on perishables in case the power goes out.

Re: Snowmageddon part 3
I will believe it when I see it. Just saying. Tired of hearing "SNOWING! SNOOOWWWINNGG!" and seeing a dusting.
If you're gonna panic people, and have them make french toast (only thing I can think of with all the eggs, milk, and bread that vanishes), at least give them reason.
I DID fix the grill! Wasn't working last snow storm, so i went this weekend with the weather being warm, and took a bottle of Jim Beam Devil's Cut. Took off a piece from the grill, cleaned it, took a pull from the bottle. Another piece, Another pull.
By the time I was done, grill was working (regulator ball is getting stuck, flipped it over, and tapped it back into it's spot- get a new one later), cleaned, and I was as lit as the grill.
"550 on the grill, 90 proof in mah tummy!" The next door neighbor said feeding his dog "You prepping for the snow?" I said "Nope! Needed a reason to get a buzz." He yelled "Yeah, I was worried about you blowing something up."

We are supposed to be in the 14 inches area. We shall see, but work is going to suck tonight. People get down right rude its all about them and their unprepared asses toward the people in the service industries.
Also people buy weird things with their toilet paper, water, milk, eggs and bread, like Cake. ??? I have no idea why, but what ever.
Be safe all, even if you don't get a lot of snow, there are a lot of people out there that could care less about you so watch your a$$es and be safe.

Bad weather is as good an excuse as any to eat stuff we probably shouldn't. Like Cake.
That being said, I'm off to the store.

Yup, for some reason, the prospect of a good-sized snow makes people worry about filling their bellies. Last time we had a good-sized snow, SWMBO cooked up dried cranberry beans, fried 'taters, turnip greens, onions, 'maters and CORNPONE! (she normally is right stingy 'bout fixing good ole-fashioned cornpone because it's so fattening if you do it right) We had cornpone and buttermilk left over, so I had me some Hillbilly ice cream for desert.
Other times she will do beef stew or chili with CORNPONE!
Tonight it will feel right good to just be home, I reckon.
On the brighter side, we're only forecast to get 4-10 inches, and it ain't started yet even though they called for it to start snowing at 1:00PM. Maybe it'll pass us by altogether.

I keep a bottle of Devils Cut under my work bench in the basement just for when I want a sip or two or three. Man that is the best whiskey Jim Beam has bought out in a long time.
You know if I get snowed in I may have find a project to work on with a 2 finger start

Nope. cornpone is a pone of corn bread. Just corn meal mix and buttermilk baked good and crispy in a greased, well-cured cast-iron skillet. Hillbilly ice cream is when you crumble up the leftover cornpone into a bowl or jar, pour buttermilk over it and eat it with a spoon. D'ruther have it as chocolate cake.
............................
By the way, it started snowing here about 30-45 minutes ago.
