Hi everyone.
I stumbled across this board by happenstance.
I moved out to Virginia about a year and half ago. I am from Ohio.
I did a whole bunch of shooting events when I lived in Ohio, including IDPA, steel matches, and the occasional USPSA match.
Still getting used to the area, but I've been loving it so far!

Any ranges out here that you would recommend?
My coworkers tell me there's SEG and Blueridge. I've been to NRA but I wanted something a bit more "relaxed".

Sounds like you live on the west side of the county, and I don't find myself out there too often.
I shoot at Sharpshooters, which is in Lorton. It's OK, but it is close to me.

I live in Falls Church, it's a pretty non-gun happy place.

most ranges in this area have strict ROs. I don't find the NRA ROs too 'harsh' at all. They do get wound up if you don't place your target at aim level, but I think most indoor ranges do that to protect their building.
You could try some outdoor ranges like Clarks Brothers or 340 in WV.
I personally shoot at NRA exclusively because it's clean, close and take all the calibers I want to shoot.

Welcome to the forum. Here's another vote for 340 Defense - it takes about an hour to drive there from Falls Church, but you can shoot just about anything you want out there and they have outdoor ranges from 15 to 400 yards.

I might have to make a trek down there, I have my AR and I think I should re-zero it from my steel match days in Ohio. You know, back to actual rifle shooting.

Welcome. It's nearly a two-hour drive for you, but if you are interested in competition shooting you should check out PNTC.
That's a drive.
I might have to swing by for a few events. Any idea on the match cost?

$25 each ($5 off for members) for monthly USPSA and IDPA matches.

Welcome to the board and welcome to beautiful Norther Virginia. I live in Arlington and I normally trek out to Blueridge. Its nice and clean, and the staff is mostly pretty nice folk. I've been wanting to hit NRA for forever but just haven't been so I can't compare.
My girlfriend lives in Fredericksburg, VA so when I'm there I go to a place called The Range on Route 1. Indoor, nothing special, but if you're looking for relaxed, its the place. Though I wouldn't say its worth the drive form Falls Church.

to the NOVA area. I shoot at Clark Brothers, the NRA Range, and Blue Ridge Arsenal...all are nice ranges, but the NRA Range is usually the busiest. I enjoy a Senior Membership at Blue Ridge Arsenal, and it's more than reasonable
