M14's. The Sentinels are a part of Honor Guard Co. They still carry M14's.

And don't think that shiny chrome plated bayonet won't hurt you. I've seen guys get some nasty "rips" right through raincoats, shirts, t-shirts on a 3X5 (close order) plaque/wreath ceremony at the top of the steps. Saw the results of one going through a guys hand one day when one of the drill team guys almost missed a catch. His hand was supposed to catch the rifle, instead the bayonet went through the right hand.

Of course, the butt stroke off the metal butt plate screwed to that nice walnut stock could also do a lot of damage.

That disrespect stuff is nothing new. In the mid to late 70's when I was in Honor Guard Co. we would sometimes go down to the tomb and watch the changing of the guard. Unbelievable (to a country boy like me) what some girls/women would do trying to throw off the guy marching the mat. Exposing body parts is nothing new.
