Respect the man for his inventions. RIP Mikhail. I do believe Eugene Stoner passed away awhile back.

So now... Sam Colt, John Browning, Eugene Stoner, Bill Ruger, and Mikhail can sit in the afterlife, and argue...

Which is better 5.56, or 7.62 X 39, or .45 ACP vs 9mm.

I think of Kalashnikov as being in the top 10 of firearms designers; not Browning, but deserving note for his design of the AK. Fox News posted a brief article from the Associated Press. The whole thing just pissed me off.

I agree with his assessment...

Of note, I didn't realize that the "47" part was kind of a date stamp, like 1911. The guy was only in his late 20's in 1947.

I knew there was something strange going on...
Kalashnikov died of complications from a liver transplant operation. The liver Kalashnikov received was allegedly Romanian, but turned out to be a substandard Albanian version.

Word is the surgery was delayed while several crushed rivets were drilled out.
