Hi all,

Just picked up an M&P Shield this past weekend, as I needed something more compact than my regular CCW, which is a Springfield XD subcompact. I've got Truglo night sights on that pistol, and was thinking about going with the same thing for this shield, but thought I'd ask everyone on the forum if they have any suggestions/personal experience on the subject. Thanks!

Digging my Truglo TFO sights for my Glock.

I am a huge fan of the trijicon tritium night sights. the cost about $180 for that pistol, but they are good for over 20 years.

Not a lot of choices out there for the shield. I put the Ameriglo/Trijicon sights and they are perfect.

My Dad got some metrolight(spelling) for is m&p45c and the look like they can take a beating. Quality and finish looks great.
I've been looking at doing the same to my m&p40c.

If you carry, you most likely will need to defend yourself at night. Flashlights are handy for near or at total darkness, but that doesn't help you find the sight allignment. Not to mention, you may not have time to turn the light on. Plus most defense situations take place at night in parking lots of malls and gas stations. Those places are lit well enough in most cases that the night sights will be perfect for rapid response.

I love the Trijicon HD series. I have them on several of my SD firearms.

They have released a version for the Shield.

I have Trijicon ones on my S&W 1911 SC, I would never use anything else.

I know the Trijicon HDs are floating around for the Shield now. Thats what I was looking at since I have them on my Glock but then I saw the Ameriglo iDot sights. the front sight is just like a triji HD in that they both have the tritium insert in the center which is outlined with a flourescent glow paint. With the Ameriglo you can get the front sight with a green or orange outline and the rear sight can be either a 1 or 2 dot set up. I opted for orange front with a 1 dot rear. I picked mine up from optics planet for right at 90 bucks shipped. thats half the price of the Trijicon HDs. The rear sight is also suitable for one handed slide manipulations which was a big selling point for me. A lot of the Shield sights I looked at were the novak style ramped rear which are virtually impossible to catch on a belt or holster.
