Gift for wife - Ruger 10/22 or Ruger American Rimfire?

My wife loves my Ruger 10/22. I happen to have the Takedown, but we've discussed a full size so I don't have to keep popping off the scope (QR Rings). She likes the weight and the feel. It's now her preferred rifle for squirrel hunting.
That said, I see the new Ruger American Rimfire has a nice raised comb option. Has anyone shot one? Thoughts?
Shhh, don't tell her, it's her Christmas gift.

I have shot RA Rimfire .22 Mag. My wife has also shot it. We both agreed it is a little heavy at 6lbs. plus the weight of the scope and sling. Especially compared to the 10/22. We have 2 Take Down Models and a Black/Stainless Model. The RA Rimfire is a great rifle , fun to shoot and will be perfect to hunt with. Biggest advantage of the 10/22 is Semi-Auto with 10/25/32 round Mags. available. I put a Center Point Red/Green Dot scope on my Black TD so it will fit back in the carry bag and not having to remove each time. I also have a RA 30.06 and the Rimfire does shoot like a Large Caliber full size Rifle....You will be Happy with either !

Golly dang, they are still in production? Dad had a Remington Model 24 when he was a boy back in the '30's. Spits hot brass downward. Still works fine.

Well, I ended up buying a 10/22 carbine with the synthetic stock and Lasermax laser. Loudoun Funs gave me a great price on it, and the synthetic is lighter than the wood. When she got it (we opened gifts early so she can use it earlier), she was pretty excited, so I did good.

She's been pretty happy with it. It did not come with sling studs and we had not installed them yet the last two trips into the hills. The light weight there was a definite plus. The 2# difference between the 10/22 and my Savages is definitely noticeable!
