"Under heavy pressure by congressional Democrats to fix Obamacare, President Barack Obama announced Thursday that the administration will allow insurance companies to keep individual customers on their existing plans for an additional year, even if the plans don't meet the law's standards.
The president's plan does not require the insurance companies to take back the Americans they kicked off, but does give them the option of taking the customers back if they want. The government will inform state insurance commissioners that they have permission to allow insurers to offer the out-of-date private plans for an additional year. It's up to them whether to allow them to continue or not."
FAT CHANCE.
Why would an insurance company, having already incurred all the expense of changing over to comply with the new law, chuck it all in the trash and go to all that trouble just to offer the plans for one more year - after which they would have to go though all that aggravation and expense AGAIN? Does Obummer really think a big insurance company can wave a magic wand and change back over to the way it was overnight? I very much doubt that I would bust my hump to rescue the Obamunists from their own stupidity for just one more year (and get them by another election, by the way). Obamacare has gutted the private insurance market for individuals. It would be shear lunacy for an insurance company to hang in for this additional tacked-on year; after which Obamacare will finally pronounce it dead and bury the rotting corpse.
This is just another hat trick. He'll announce insurance companies are allowed to do that - if they want to. Then when they don't, he'll blame it on the bad old insurance companies. The contempt for and ignorance of private enterprise and the general electorate the Obamunists exhibit is breathtaking.

I don't know about American law, but where I came from, this is public instigation to break a law.
And the General Attorney office starts acting immediately.
But... that's a socialist country...

He is just trying to shift the blame from the DIMS to the Insurance companies so that the DIMS will not get hurt in the 2014 Election. Oh by the way since when did the Ececutive branch have the ability to just change a law? I thought that it took an act of Congress? Our we now under a Toltarian leadership or does the House and Senate have anything to say about this?

Thank goodness he waited until after my company already had our annual benefits election and my health insurance costs went up by $120/month. Thanks Goodness, I say!

Wow, what a load of horseshit. He thinks he is king now, does he? I think this reflects on all the dems.
I even had a very close (and black: read fully pro-obamination) friend confide in me that I was right all along. Amazing. I hope the rest of the obamination is waking up too, but I doubt it, my friend is very smart and thinks when I talk to him.

Same here. Can't wait to see what happens next year. I'm so looking forward to it.

How can the President dictate what portions of a law take effect or do not? The office of the President has no authority under the Constitution to do so. Why were we told we could keep our plans and doctors if we liked them and now that is not the case? Why is it that this Affordable Care Act is soooo good for "We the People" but the folks who administer it are exempted or hugely subsidized?
20 years ago if someone had said to me "In 20 years your government is going to make you buy a "product" simply because you are alive" I'd have laughed them down as a fool.
Now the Tyranny is here.
I will not comply.
God Bless each of you in the days that are coming.

How can he fix this? He is the executive branch, not the legislative branch. Separation of powers should preclude him from fixing this. He is not a king. He cannot alter laws on his own whims. Someone needs to inform him of this.

One would think a Constitutional scholar would already know that. Like other things Constitutional, I suspect he knows and doesn't care because Congress is impotent and does his bidding.

The Emperor has figured out he may not have any clothes on, and is trying to convince us all that he is, in fact, clothed. (sorry for the visual)

The problem is he can do almost anything he wants because nobody stops him, we've seen time and again where he doesn't have the authority to do something and he does without anyone in the MSM or left even questioning him.
Now that I think about it we must all be racists to even question him.

Well, the insurance companies have pretty much come out and confirmed what I said in the OP. You can't wave a magic wand and undo 3 years worth of planning, preparation and implementation in 45 days. That's how much time they have until the new ("or reinstated old") policies must be in effect. If the Obamunists really think that is even possible they are orders of magnitude more delusional than they were before.
My God, it takes at least 30-45 days and a fair amount of paperwork to change the price of 'tater chips at Kroger! Can you IMAGINE trying to undo the cancellation of 7 million insurance policies with their networks, contracts, and billing and payment infrastructure and then redo them to a new set of nebulous and unwritten rules that are illegal on their face under the legally adopted legislation IN 45 DAYS? Don't forget those 7 million policies are in 50 states with 50 different sets of laws and regulations.
And yes, the POTUS is attempting to act totally outside his authority. But what difference does it make whether it is legal when it just isn't possible anyway?

The insurance institute rep I saw mentioned lost revenues if companies abandoned the newer, more lucrative, plans to go back and renew their old policies. Some incentive to be a good guy, huh? Good catch.

Who says that you get back the old policies at the same price?
