New to VA from the socialist state of MA

Hey guys!

Just moved to northern VA from the socialist, anti-gun state of Massachusetts. Feels good to have my rights restored in VA! Looking forward to getting involved with the firearm community here. Still getting over the elated feeling that I can walk into a gun store and buy a 30 rounds magazine and that I don't have to register my firearms and get a license for everything! In MA if the guns are not on an "approved roster" we can't even buy them.

I currently own:
- SIG 556 Patrol rifle (MA version so minus the flash suppressor and pinned folding stock)
- S&W MP9
- Winchester Model 12 featherweight
- Old Sears Roebuck .22

Looking at expanding my collection with a good inventory here in VA!

Welcome from a fellow northern VA resident. We need more folks like us to counter the anti-gunners here in NOVA.

Welcome! Try to be careful; lots of firearms have been lost due to boating accidents round these parts.

I take it some of the local politicians are trying to pass stricter gun laws here in Nova or VA in general? As a new resident let me know who I should vote for!

Elections recently completed. Northern VA statists did their damage. AG is still being contested (100's in 8 million separate them). Be aware of VCDL and their work. Join if you can. Be involved with your reps.

Which congressional district do you live in?

At the state level, who is your senator, and who is your delegate?

Even if these folks are R, here in NOVA, they may not be pro-gun.

As GeneF said, join VCDL. They are very effective, and our best voice.

Looks like my area is 8th district, some in the 10th. I'll have to look into which one I fall into. I'll def look into VCDL

Pls don't confuse VCDL with Virginia Gun Owner's Coalition (VGOC). I really don't know much about VGOC. VCDL has been around for a while and does tremendous work. Their alerts are posted here, so you can see everythong they do.

The representative in the 8th is Jim Moran. He's been the rep since I moved here over 20 years ago. Definitely NOT a friend. His is one of the most liberal districts around. Moran himself is a clown - a wife beater, kid beater, and so on.

The representative in the 10th is Frank Wolfe. He's an R, but I'm not too familiar with him.

Look up your state senator and delegate. They are the front line to protecting our rights at the state level. Terry McAuliffe was just elected governor. He is not our friend, and it's going to be up to our state reps to keep him honest over the next four years.

One more thing - now that you're in VA, get your CCW permit ASAP.

Thanks, will definitely be researching the reps. I'm a LEO so I carry under my cred's but I'll def be getting a CCW to cover any overlaps.

Welcome! Feels awesome to get out of the PRMA doesn't it? (I'm from Jamaica Plain originally). VA is an awesome state and as you already know, no "approved roster" to always find ways around. You won't regret the move this is a great place to live.
