Well, me and the daughter want to get started in hunting... however we both need hunter education class to get our permit.
Since I work a LOT Ive got little free time to attend a class, so I wondered if there were any on-line classes that I can complete and print off a certificate that would be sufficient to get our permits?
TIA,
JC
On-Line hunter education?
Re: On-Line hunter education?
Hello there. There is an online class you can take; but in order to obtain your "certificate card" so that you may go and purchase your license I believe you have to attend a class. If you go on VDGIF's website; you can find out more info on the requirements as well as find a link to hunter education courses in your area. Most of their courses from what I have seen seem to be on Saturday's running from roughly 9 - 4 (at least the few I have seen for my area... I just looked into it for a family member who took the course with her daughter). I sincerely hope that this does not come over the wrong way; as I do not mean this as to criticize you.... but if you have already checked out the links on the site and realize you do not have the "free time" to take one of these 8 hour classes(usually held on weekends); how are you ever going to have time to really get out in the woods??? Most people think that all they need is a hunting license, a firearm, and ammo for the game they are hunting to "magically" appear. Small game is much much easier; however if you plan on going out for deer or other large game; it takes a lot of time as to scout out trails, look for rubs, select the area you will set your stand, etc..... Do not get me wrong; I am not trying to turn you off of the idea, but just being "realistic" that hunting is not something that can be truly learned overnight.

Digg, no problems my brother! I encourage the type of reply you made... respectful, questioning and informative.
The last time I went deer hunting was with my (ex?) brother in law almost 2 decades ago now...
Deer is a long way down the road for us, and Im fairly sure that were too late for squirrel season...
Id like us to start small and maybe later, if time and opportunity provides, graduate to deer. (If that actually comes to fruition)
I work every Sat, I may be able to take some vaca time for a class if I find one with enough time to put in for it.
Id rather take a class in person, I think more can be absorbed than from on-line so for now, I think Ill just be patient, check the DGIF site and other resources and abandon the on-line idea for now.
Thanks much friend!
