Another day another toilet spin in VA

10 teen boys are beating up one girl. Mom fires her gun into the air. The teen thugs run away. The mom calls the police...the mom is arrested. Perhaps the police would have preferred she shot a teen. I am so sick and tired of this no thinking baloney. No one got hurt (except the girl who was being attacked). We are going the way of NY and CO where the criminals have all the rights and the citizens none.

Ridiculous, but they do have one point. Shoot the gun into the ground.

Better yet, do what they want, and shoot the threat is putting her daughter at risk of great bodily harm.

Yeah...perhaps the police should have offered her pointers on shot placement, but not arresting and charging her. She was well within her rights to shoot the teens that were attacking her daughter. She tried to be sensible and show mercy and scare the cretins away, now she is charged and no mention as to the boys that assaulted her daughter were charged as well. Let that be a lesson the cretins are brutal and the police are brutal too.

IS THIS HOW WE WANT VA GOVERNED? Is this mom being charged the will of the people in Virginia?

I tell you what...young thugs out there.....you attack me and mine to the point that I have to draw and per the laws of VA I am sending the bullets not at the ground or in the air but at your center of mass. Sorry, no mercy allowed per woodbridge PD.

And a Governor McAwful would side with the thugs, because they will become and their welfare-dependent parents are dependable Democrat voters.

If it gets much more crazy here, I am telling my husband to start looking for a job in TX. I hate the heat, but that is what AC is for.

But you can only run so far away, so people will have to stand up to this crap, if not we will all be doomed no matter where we live!

Charles.

We will stand here until the battle is won, but if the battle is lost, sometimes a tactical retreat is wise. Washington left NY and moved on to victory in VA. I am here, I am active, I am standing, I vote in EVERY election. IF VA turns into CO and it is apparent those changes are likely longlasting I will be looking for a new home. VA voting for Mcawful is a bad sign, but it may not be the end game. We shall see.

Now, if she had fired into the ground right beside the fray....
"Officer, it was getting out of control and I was in fear of serious bodily harm to my daughter! I went to draw and was going to shoot at the one I feared most, but my gun went off before I got ti all the way up! By time I recovered and turned my attention back tot he threat, they were all taking off and there was no need for me to shoot at anybody then.... I got my breath back, checked my daughter and called the PD. I was terrified!"

Just saying.....

we had a kid get killed in Chesterfield, VA back on the 4th from a stray round falling from the sky. The cops probably still have this fresh on their minds and it was reckless of her to do it.

How are the homeschooling laws there? I have two major criteria for where I move that must be ok. Gun laws and homeschooling laws. IF either are repressive the state is out of the question. Example..North Dakota--great on guns....terrible for homeschooling. And the weather is way too cold for me. I could deal with 110 but -30 is right out.

I understand that. But she was trying to stop these idiots from killing her child in a way that did not take a life. I don't think it was the wisest course of action, but as the chances of a bullet fired up killing someone or causing any such damage is very remote (even the Chesterfield shooting they think it was a horizontal shot--not a vertical shot) I would not consider that reckless. A poor choice perhaps, but a poor choice under very trying circumstances. Her daughter was being attacked, 10 on 1 could have easily been killed.

That law I believe was designed to discourage celebratory fire not stop parents from protecting their kids. She should have been given a lecture on where to put her round next time and sent on her merry way as the LEO's go and try to find the thugs that attempted to kill her daughter.

That's allright. I hope she gets off. If I was on the jury she would.

But I will remember this and though I was not inclined to give warning shots anyway (waste of a round) I will certainly not do so now. Thugs be warned. The state of VA has said that any leniency or mercy on the part of those you attack towards you will be met with charges for the merciful. So if you attack a person expect to get one coming center of mass.

Honestly, I don't want to kill anyone, but the more I see stuff like this, the more I think the best thing is, if you need to draw... shoot to kill.

Jury nullification. Start getting the word out now to the potential jury pool.

Jury nullification remains our only bastion of sanity.
