A proposal to end the government shutdown and avoid default orchestrated by Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Leader Harry Reid includes a nearly $3 billion earmark for a Kentucky project.

after Speaker John Boehner told Republicans they had “fought the good fight,” they all rose up to offer a standing ovation. “It was one of the easiest meetings we’ve ever had,” says Representative Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina.

Earmarks - so tired of them. Why couldn't the $3 Billion dollar river project get its own funding under a separate bill? Seems to me that $3B warrants its own vote.

That $3 billion warrants a trial followed by public execution for selling a vote.

So, did the Reid give in on anything? Sorry, I haven't read up the news yet.

He sent Boehner a $25 gift card for Red Robins.

Man I am sick of this. I don't want government shut down, but how do they do this, and give so much rhetoric about the debt, while rolling over and sucking on the democratic phallus.

Tea Party all the way.

Cantor, Rigell, Wolf, and Wittman all voted for this abomination. Way to go, staunch defenders of conservatism!

The worst part for me is we get to do this all over again in 90 days. Some of you, maybe most of you, might not agree but the Republicans need to stop trying to get rid of Obama care as a condition of funding the government. It isn't going to happen. It is law. It has been upheld by the supreme court. Get over it and move on. I am not a supporter of Obama care but you are not going to get rid of it until the Republicans control both houses. And considering they are getting most of the blame for the current mess, they have not helped themselves in that quest. About 10% of the country are ultra right wing and about 10% are ultra left wing. The vast majority are somewhere in between. That fact seems to get lost on a lot of people and seems to end up costing Republicans far more than Democrats. And the fact that many of his fellow Republicans ripped Ted Cruz to shreds in the press and on TV does not help his cause going forward. Just my 2 cents.

That's the best part of it. Next time, the conservatives should tell them "we wARNED YOU LAST TIME; now give us a responsible budget that significantly reduces deficit spending or we will shut down and fund functions bill-by-bill."

Hopefully the RINOS will have enough voter feedback to scare them into facing the correct enemy next time. If not primary their worthless posteriors out!

Anyone too squemish to fight a 10 year battle to retake and cut the government should just give up now. This is a war not a single battle.

Read "The Liberty Amendments" for the long term plan. These jerks won't fix themselves...they (bloated government) are the problem.

Shut down ends? There was never a shut down to begin with.

A bunch of @$$ holes holding our monuments hostage, does not constitute a shut down.

If I were to look for a ray of sunshine, this is it. The conservatives can go forth for 90 days trying to reach real compromise and start fixing our debt and deficit, and if the democraps don't do anything it starts to look even worse on them.

Also, per the argument that [it's law, it is too late to remove it], such is complete bull poop (excuse my French!). It is our duty to fix the bad laws made by previous governments. Even the SCOTUS has said we should show patience, and fix it when next we get the chance, for those laws we do not like. I do not like the healthcare law as it stands, and so, we must repeal it as soon as possible. Why the hell does it have to go only one way? REPEAL all the bull laws ASAP, and put in new laws that fix the other problems.

'Zacktly. "separate but equal" was the law of the land at one time. But that didn't make it right. Same argument goes for Obamacare.

Rich... Let me explain why Conservative members of our government are so adamant about getting rid of Obama Care.

All laws that involve "generation of revenue" are supposed to start in the house, ratified by the Senate and confirmed by the President. Instead, it started with the President and the Executive Branch, ordered written by the Senate, and both the Senate and the House were ordered by the President to vote for it now and read it later. That is exactly what happened; is completely unethical and is a violation of the US constitution.

The reason it did not start in the House of Representatives is because they represent the people and the majority of "The People" did not want the PPACA.

Another tragic miscarriage of justice is the people who wrote this law and forced it down the throats of the American people know how bad it sucks, so the exempted themselves from having the law apply to them.

You combine all of that with the fact that, via Executive fiat, the President is picking and choosing which pieces of his own crappy law gets implemented/enforced and when, which also defies the Constitution while working well beyond the powers granted to him, and yea... people are pretty upset.

Conservatives are fighting this law on every front they can; whenever they can, because regardless of what the President, the Liberals or the Supreme Court say... the law is complete BS and does nothing but hurt the people.

Kind on interesting how Cantor voted given his response being ".. blah blah blah... buzzwords... blah... You are important to me... blah...

For the sake of our economy and working middle class families, you may rest asured that I will continue to work to delay, defund, and dismantle this law, and I will strive to find health care solutions centered around the doctor-patient relationship that will lower costs and increase access to affordable health care.

blah blah blah

With kind regards, I am

Sincerely,
