I picked up a izhevsk 1936 M91/30 Mosin Nagant "HEX" Receiver with Strap, Spam Can 440 rounds 7.62.54R, Cleaning kit, Oil Can and Bayonet

I was impressed when I took it to the range at 100 yards with iron sites I was able to put all five shots within a 6 inch grouping
I have heard that the Rifle is sighted in with the Bayonet attached and at 100 yards so if I want to shoot less than 100 yards I would need a scope or
raise the front site. Any thoughts

I was checking the Mosin Nagant Rifle Years of Production page and I could not find my Mosin listed.

From what I can tell from the Markings
Manufacture Year: 1936
Manufacture Location: Izhevsk
Type Receiver: HEX

The Soviet M91/30 Izhevsk Hex Receiver was manufactured between 1930 to 1935, The Tula Plant ended Hex Receivers in 1936.

So I started to inspect the entire rifle and found out from the stamp on the Tang that the Receiver was actually built in 1934 and The
Barrel was built in 1936. 1936 rifles are interesting because almost all of them were sent to Republican Spain (Civil War)

Well after a short ownership with this rifle, I sold it to a collector in Arkansas who is collecting all variants of the 1930's Mosin Nagants
and he has heard of a izhevsk 1936 "HEX" Receiver but could never track one down until he seen my post on another forum. we settled on 450.00
so I put my C&R to work and sent the rifle to his FFL. I was sad to see her go but I was able to pickup a couple rifles to replace her with.....

1942 Mauser K98 and a 1942 Izhevsk M91/30 Mosin Nagant DDR East German Stamped.
