Not happy with just universal background checks, magazine restrictions, and one-gun-a-month laws, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe wants to add an "assault weapons" ban to his wish list for Virginia!

In the video, below, he uses the massacres at Virginia Tech and the DC Naval Yard as an excuse for needing such a ban.

Uh, excuse me, Mr. McAuliffe? There were NO semiautomatic rifles used in either massacre. One was done with a handgun, the other with a shotgun (a la Joe Biden).

No doubt McAuliffe's response would be, "I'm a politician! Don't confused me with the facts, let's ban them anyway!"

He claims to be a gun owner. Yep, he bought a shotgun earlier this year and he is now a "gun owner," just like Al Gore.

Here's the video. Thanks to member Jay Minsky for the link:

Do you hear how he speaks? That guys sounds retarded. How did he get into politics?

I wish Mark Levin would run for Governor or President.

Here's a link to the makeup of the Colorado legislature. As you can see the Colorado lower house is 37 Democrats to 28 Republicans and their upper house was at the time of the gun control bills passing 20 Democrats to 15 Republicans.

Contrast those numbers with the current makeup of the General Assembly (which even Democrats publicly admit is unlikely to significantly change and it's even possible for the GOP to gain 1 or 2 seats in November). The Virginia House of Delegates is currently 67 Republicans to 31 Democrats with 1 Independent and the Senate of Virginia is currently evenly split (pending November's election which could result in special elections).

The Republican majority in the House is HUGE and, again, is unlikely to change much. Basically, the House can squash any and all gun control bills submitted. Even in the Senate, it seems highly unlikely that any substantive gun control bills would report.

So while I'm not excited at the prospect of a McAuliffe administration, it certainly wouldn't be the end of the world. I just can not see any way at all that gun control could pass the General Assembly. I just don't see it happening.

That being said, let's not give Terry the chance, eh? Vote for Cuccinelli.
