YES!!!!!
Hats off to our brethren in Colorado! After strong gun control was passed earlier this year, a recall petition was put into motion to recall two of the key Democrats who, with the backing of New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg, shoved gun control down the throats of Colorado's citizens.
During the ensuing months, the Democrats who were being recalled used a lot of dirty tricks to try to stop the recall. But in the end they failed and the recall vote went forward Tuesday night.
AND BOTH THE ANTI-LIBERTY SENATE PRESIDENT AND ANOTHER ANTI-LIBERTY SENATOR HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND ARE NO LONGER IN THE COLORADO SENATE!
This was a major, STINGING defeat for the tyrant Bloomberg and his Illegal Mayors Against Guns. It also will send shockwaves across the country, including here in Virginia, for politicians to stay away from gun control!
If Democrats still want to be the Party of Gun Control, they'd best think twice about it.

Colorado state senators recalled over gun control support

Two Democratic lawmakers in Colorado, including the president of the state senate, were recalled Tuesday in elections brought about by their support for tougher gun control laws.
With 94 percent of the projected vote counted, voters in Colorado Springs favored recalling state Sen. John Morse, the body's president, by 51 percent to 49 percent. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, state Sen. Angela Giron of Pueblo was defeated in her recall election, 56 percent to 44 percent.
"We as the Democratic party will continue to fight," Morse told supporters in Colorado Springs as he conceded the race. Republican Bernie Herpin, a former Colorado Springs city councilman, will replace him. Giron will be replaced by Republican George Rivera, a former deputy police chief in Pueblo.
The votes marked the first time in Colorado history that a state lawmaker faced a recall effort and the biggest backlash in states that passed tougher gun-control laws following two mass shootings last year at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater and a Newtown, Conn., elementary school.
Democratic-leaning Connecticut, Maryland, and New York also passed tougher gun laws without a recall effort making a state ballot.
The states effort came after President Obamas unsuccessful attempt to get Congress to pass stricter federal laws including tighter background checks and bans on assault weapons and high-capacity gun magazines.
In Colorado Springs, the majority of registered voters are Democrats, but many are conservative-leaning. 23 percent of them, in fact, signed the petition to recall Morse, according to The Denver Post.
The National Rifle Association and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg lined up on opposite sides of the recall effort, led by gun-rights advocates upset over the legislation and how the hearings were conducted.
Both state legislators voted for 15-round limits on ammunition magazines and for expanded background checks on private gun sales.
The legislation passed Colorado's Democrat-led legislature without any Republican support and was signed into law by Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper, who had initially rejected calls for stronger gun control laws.
Morse, a former police chief in suburban Colorado Springs, said Colorado's gun laws were commonsense ideas to reduce fatalities in mass shootings. He was first elected to the Colorado Senate in 2006.
Reported contributions to Morse and Giron totaled about $3 million, dwarfing the reported amount raised by gun activists who petitioned for the recall, though some independent groups didn't have to report spending. Both the NRA and Bloomberg contributed more than $300,000 to the pro- and anti-recall campaigns.
In addition, dozens of elected county sheriffs have sued to block the gun laws.
One of the Morse recall organizers, Timothy Knight, said supporters are upset that lawmakers limited debate on the gun legislation and seemed more inclined to take cues from the White House than their constituents.
"If the people had been listened to, these recalls wouldn't be happening," Knight said.

2. Lynchburg City Council delays vote on reducing CHP fees

Tonight in the Lynchburg City Council meeting there was a lot of lip service paid to our right to keep and bears arms, but only Councilman Jeff Helgeson was truly trying to help gun owners by lowering the CHP fee in Lynchburg. Everyone else was playing political games.
The PD is using DETECTIVES being paid OVERTIME with BENEFITS, to process CHP applications! Talk about a waste of taxpayer's dollars. A clerk could do just as good of a job for much less money. They also claim each CHP application takes an hour to process, which sounds like total baloney (and someone who has done background checks has confirmed to me that they take MINUTES to do.)
Initially the police gave false accounting information to City Council showing that the police were losing money at $35 per CHP application to run background checks. (The $50 maximum fee breaks down to: $10 for the Circuit Court Clerk, $5 for the State Police, and $35 for the locality.) Then, under pressure by Helgeson to show the details of the cost of the background checks, suddenly new figures were provided that showed a profit by the PD!
But at the meeting tonight, the figures presented by the PD didn't show detectives getting overtime any more, but the new figures did include a 40% benefits package added to the detective's $22 an hour base salary and also added 10% overhead. That magically came out to, you guessed it, $35 dollars an hour, the most the PD can charge. What an accounting miracle!
In the end the City Council decided to ask the fox to guard the henhouse by asking the Police Chief to report back if he can find a way to reduce the cost of doing the background checks so the CHP fees could be reduced. Council delayed the vote indefinitely until such figures are presented.
This should be interesting. My money says that as hard as the PD tries, it just won't be able to save any money on those background checks. [Eye roll]
It sure smells like a perk for detectives: run a few background checks after work and collect a cool $33 plus benefits per hour. Hey, gun owners can afford it!
We'll see what happens in a month or so. In the meantime VCDL has three other options it will be weighing to change the $50 maximum fee allowed by law: have the General Assembly lower the maximum fee, create lifetime permits, or make Constitutional Carry legal. (Constitutional Carry is concealed carry without a CHP, but allows a person to get a CHP if they want one).
