WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: RETRACT the executive order against the re-importation of U.S. military firearms

This petition is for the retraction of the Executive Action, announced 08/29/2013, which would prohibit the re-importation of former U.S. military firearms for sale to U.S. citizens. The primary firearms that this would impact are the U.S. M1 Garand and Carbine rifles, prized by collectors, competitive sports shooters, and "plinkers" who are interested in U.S. military history. These are NOT the type of firearms that have been associated with crimes. This Executive Action will solve no firearms-related problems, is political grandstanding at its worst, and only serves to discriminate against legitimate firearms collectors.

Honestly, the petitions are a nice marketing ploy by th Exec office. At best, if meeting a seemungly ever increasing minimum number of "signatures", it will only trigger a writtn response. In this case, it'll most likely be someting like "...blah blah.. think of the children.. blah blah.. assault weapons bad... no stand your ground... blah blah blah crime. ... blah blah <hand waving> derp have to do something..." We're better off writing and calling our elected Representatives and try to force them to have a backbone and stand up to the Executive branch demanding them (and others?) be returned and made avilable to the law abiding public.

It's a standard redirection/feel-good ploy to make it appear that people are actually doing something, being herd, etc. It is marketing, pure and simple. The PR is "look how transparent we are! We're listening to you!" Keep in mind they're already doing all kinds of polls,so they do know what the hot topics are.
