For some reason, yesterday the resolution apparently changed on this page which reduced the apparent font size to about half. I've changed the resolution on my display but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the way this page is displayed. What happened? How do I fix this?

Try setting it on compatibility mode. Another thing you can do it futz with (under the cog/settings) is F12 Developer Tools Browser and Document mode in the toolbar.

Been running IE10 for a coon's age. This just started today.

Thanks, but I think I actually meant CTRL +. That is, hold down the CTRL key, and hit the key that is = at the bottom and + at the top.....to get a larger font.
So I guess you could write that as CTRL ++, but that's confusing. I actually use it a lot, both CTRL + and CTRL -; I guess I spend time at sites with rather varying font sizes!
Not clear at all why dormouse suddenly got smaller fonts, though, unless he maybe accidentally hit CTRL-.
