Sen. john McCain Urges Review of Stand Your Ground Laws

Post by Kreutz »

A top Republican joined President Barack Obama's call to review so-called "Stand Your Ground" laws in the aftermath of the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the 2012 shooting of black teen Trayvon Martin.

Sen. John McCain, Ariz., a prominent Republican who's been known to break ranks with fellow members of the GOP at times, urged state legislatures to review Stand Your Ground laws in the wake of the Zimmerman trial, which became a national flashpoint for race relations in America.

"I can also see that Stand Your Ground laws may be something that needs to be reviewed by the Florida legislature or any other legislature that has passed such legislation," McCain said on CNN.

The only reason that I am not embarrassed by voting for McCain is that I remember the option.

McCain continues to do predictably irritating things, as do most politicians, anymore.

For those of your keeping track of this from home, I have a question for you.

Which party is trying to take our guns away in this country? If you answered both, please go to the head of the class.

I would have suggested that he check himself back into the Hanoi Hilton to be back with the hotel staff that think like him, but that would have been in incredibly poor taste.

I think we dodged a bullet. Had we elected him he would have governed very similarly to Obummer and the republican party would have been tarred with his image and his record. As it stands the democrat party is now the socialist (nearly fascist) party of America and anyone paying attention knows it. So as bad as our president is....at least we don't own him.

Now as for Mr. McCain. "Thank you for your service. Now could you please retire to some lovely island, beach, or mountain vista and enjoy your retirement years YOU HAVE EARNED IT!"

I would say I think he is going senile, except he has always been the backstabbing political type. Always the one to reach across the isle at the worst possible time. Always the one to on the cusp of victory grasp defeat. I really really wish he would go away.

I think we the people need to be the ones to decide what party a candidate belongs to because they obviously have no idea.

Yeah. I can think of a few "Republicans" who should be booted out of the party.

I've always advocated that the Tea Party, and Liberatarians take over the GOP, and kick the "progressives" to the Democrats.

They believe the same way anyhow.

These are matters of state law; not federal. The feds have no damn business "reviewing" our laws at the state level. And this knee-jerk reaction to everything that happens of having the feceral (that "feceral" was supposed to be "federal", but the typo is so appropriate I'm going to leave it that way) gub'mint take some action or pass some law is the PROBLEM, not the solution. Any Federal legislator who advocates it (unless it is to get and keep the feds OUT of the issue) ought to be VOTED OUT!
