SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — Jurors have found George Zimmerman not guilty of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

The six-member, all-woman jury deliberated for more than 15 hours over two days before reaching their decision Saturday night.

They had been given the chance to convict Zimmerman of manslaughter but did not do so, despite asking for a clarification of the charge earlier in the evening.

After hearing the verdict, Judge Debra Nelson told Zimmerman he was free to go.

I'm afraid that it's far from over. Nothing prevents the Martin's from filing a civil suit for wrongful death, is there?

NAACP is saying they will try to get the justice department to file civil rights charges against him. Looks like this might be nowhere near over.

I'm sure all of the Sunday Talk Shows will get the masses in "RIOT MODE". I do belive Justice was Served !

He has been dealt a life term, even if it isn't behind bars. I would be heading to a remote country ASAP.

Al Sharpton is already spinning up the wheels. Thankfully, Jesse Jackson urged people to get justice within the system.

Now, if I were Zimmerman, I'd be suing all the news media agencies that edited the 911 tape, the NBPP for putting a price on his head, and Spike Lee for putting what was thought to be his address on twitter.

Typically, I'm not one to advocate lawsuits. However, in this case, I hope that he does.

Shame on the NAACP for promoting thuggish and criminal behavior, incidently.

Robert Zimmerman speaking to Pierce about the verdict. Very well said and I 100% agree with his very last statement. It SICKENS me to the bone that people throw the race card into this. It shows the lack of intelligence in this nation. It shows that no matter what, people will never be grateful for what they have and what their damn GRANDPARENTS fought so hard to give them.

I get it, you feel injustice. Welcome to America. A panel of 6 mixed women found a white/Hispanic guy innocent of Murder and Manslaughter. For one damn minute do you think these very same folks would be rising up over a guilty verdict? No. They have a vendetta and their agenda is to receive entitlements not meant for any one person in this nation.

A man can sign up at 17 to defend his nation, take responsibilities and burdens for his action. Yet you don't expect the same of 17 yr old punk? Get out of America. You're part of the cancer killing America the GREAT.

I expect to see a murder of a white man today by a group of blacks sadly trying to "prove a point" in the news by this evening somewhere in our country. How sad is it to say that you expect such a thing yet know it's the truth?

In closing... I'm glad the jurors did not get blinded by the racial issue that clearly was apparent here. They looked at the evidence and the facts. A big thanks goes out to them from me on that point. I also see this as a win for us 2A folks and gives us a little more hope that as legal owners, should that horrible day ever come where we may NEED to pull that trigger, that the justice system may have our backs.

Wrongful death has a lower burden of proof (not beyond a reasonable doubt) and only has to show negligence (the manslaughter charge had to rise above negligence, which the jury did not think it did). So they can still get paid, though they already did by the HOA from what I've seen.
Big one will be the federal civil rights lawsuit. Be very interesting to see if the Justice Department pursues that (I strongly doubt it).

People forget that "justice" is not a guilty verdict. Justice is a trial by their peers, and that's exactly what both Zimmerman and Martin received. The outcome of that justice may make some people mad, but the system worked and Zimmerman goes home.

So Holder's DOJ has to decide whether to file a federal case for civil rights violation? God help GZ.

What's amazing is the absolute ignorance of facts by TM supporters; someone tried to tell me that TM was shot in the back. After I showed him the coroner's report, he shut up.
