I have what I hope is a rather easy question.. with a CCW, what are the laws concerning concealed carry on private property without consent of the owner and it not being specifically banned i.e. "No Conceal Carry Allowed"? This popped up on a recent fishing trip on private property. I open carry a P22 with both regular .22 and rat loads... mainly snakes etc.. due to a run-in with a rabid animal a few years back and the property owner's .22 was broken!! That brought to mind, can I conceal carry onto private property without consent of the owner if it is not expressly marked? I know most of the owners well, grew up in the area but I want to make sure I am abiding by the law. I have never had an issue open carrying with any landowner, some have even commented that it was a good idea.

Yes. But if the property owner finds out, and asks you to leave, you must do so.

If you know the owners well as you say, why not just ask them if its okay to carry on their property?

Why ask, if it's concealed? Should we be asking as we visit stores, restaurants, friends' houses? No.

Exactly. In South Carolina you have to get the owner's permission to carry on their property. I think that defeats the purpose of concealed carry.

This is where I fully support "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". I don't ask permission and I generally don't look for signage, and if I'm concealing properly, I'm the only one who knows. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. However, if the property owner tells you they don't allow firearms, failure to leave immediately may result in a trespassing charge.
