Virginia Gun Owners Forum - VGOF

Now that I'm receiving the RSS feed to my trusty BlackBerry phone, an idea came to me. Would it be possible to have a feed geared more towards mobile devices?. The difference would be that the mobile feed would contain the post's text instead of a link back to the thread on the site. It is possible to view the VGOF site on my phone's browser, but it's a bit awkward to navigate due to the frames layout.

I also receive an RSS feed for the VCDL's blog (blog.vcdl.org) which allows me to read the entire posts as text only. Of course, the posts on their blog are mostly text only; just like the VA-ALERTS.

So, I'll just throw this out and see if anyone bites. Maybe Rick can add this one for a future wish list.

I have actually been looking into this and may have a text-only version of the forum running at some point in the next couple of months specifically for mobile browsing.

Dumb question. If we receive an RSS feed on our mobile for new posts when we log on to the forum via PC will those posts be marked as read? I really depend on seeing that red flashing reticle so I can catch up here on the board.

The only way to do that is to preserve login capabilities in the skin so that when you visit with your device, you can log in and all your reads are marked. It should work that way when I'm done.
