How to freak out an Atheist.

How to freak out an Atheist.

In Atheism, you subscribe to the fact that their is no God whatsoever. That it's all imaginary. You use science as a way to discredit any points of faith, or religion.

However, you have offered NO concrete, substantial answer to ALL of the mysteries of the universe, or even this world.

So you have a belief that there is no God, you have a faith in that fact, and in having a faith, you find like-minded folk to support that faith, that's a religion, and in all religions you have a "Church", and in all churches you have a fundemental structure of trying to counter other religions.

So to all Atheists? Welcome to having an organized religion!

Enjoy your tax free structure, now STFU about there being no God, because all people of religions have to agree to disagree. And you have "Separation of Church and State, soooo Enjoy being persecuted by the Guv'mint!

I've often said that hard-core Atheists have more faith than anyone else.

Wait until they are older, it's funny how mortality can bring faith to the faithless.

I've always said that if atheism is a crusade for you, then it's your religion.

Love,

Your neighborhood Deist.

So you're saying that an atheists's leaping to conclusions to the mysteries (i.e., unanswered questions) of the universe is the same as a religionist's doing the same. So what?

What put-down do you have for those who resist the temptation to jump to conclusions and are comfortable with keeping the questions open until sufficient evidence is discovered to provide a reasonable answer?

No put-down. I certainly can't fault one for having faith, whether that faith be in an extremely long series of accidental occurances, or placed in a deity of some sort.

And if you want more evidence produced before you decide what it is that you want to believe, I have to wonder what exactly it is that you want to see. And, that, also, is no put down. Just something I seriously wonder about.

The problem arises when ATHEISISM is sided with by the U.S. GOVERNMENT!

If it walks, talks, and quacks like a duck... it's a duck.

So if Atheisism walks, talks, and preaches like a RELIGION! IT IS A RELIGION, and GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT ACCEPT IT WHOLLY!

Viola! Your "Separation of Church, and State" used against Atheists.

Turn to science to find out how, turn to God to find out why.

Science and faith are not exclusive....unless you want them to be.

I must add this observation that helps explain part of my agreement with the OP: Most of the militant atheists do in fact have a religion, and it is not atheism. It is Progressivism (or Statism), for lack of a better name. It's god is Government, its church in America is the Democratic Party, and its main tenets are drawn from a strange mixture of sources including Marxism, Hegelian philosophy, European notions of royal breeding and the divine right of kings, Hobbes's Leviathan, James's Utilitarianism, and Bismarck's proto-fascism. Their creed can be stated as: "Society is an organism unto itself, and individuals play the same role in society as cells do in a body. The head, or brain, of society is the government. There are people of a superior nature who should be given power to rule absolutely over their fellow citizens because they possess greater knowledge and compassion than others, and can be trusted to know what is in the best interests of Society as a whole."

And that, my friends, is the secret recipe for some of the greatest atrocities in human history.

Their vehemence is a measure of how much blind faith they have in their Statist religion.

As long as someone's internal belief system has no harm to living and breathing persons as part of it's core, it's no better or no worse than others.

Precisely why Statism is such a cancer to humanity.

And if you're an atheist? Fine, but... you belong to a "church", and it's being chosen by the government, and that is a failure in "Separation of Church and State."

Reverenddel, there are shades of atheist. Some simply do not believe in a higher power, and they quietly practice their belief. Many Asians and Buddhists are this way.

There are Christians who are the same, and Deists that are the same. I do not belong to a church. I practice my faith in my own, quiet way.

I'm not freaked out a single bit. Atheism is actually the complete absence of religion.

"However, you have offered NO concrete, substantial answer to ALL of the mysteries of the universe, or even this world."

Neither has religion, so let us just agree to disagree. You're free to believe in whatever it may be you believe in, and I have every right not to believe in the things you believe in. As long as you don't go asserting that your way of life is right and mine is wrong (and of course vice-versa) then why the big fuss over who does and doesn't believe.

I believe we should be debating for germane things on a gun forum, like why some of you think you need to be "manly" and carry .45 ACP, when data shows 9mm is usually more effective in a firefight.

I wont tell you that your way of life is right or wrong, but I will assert that we have all sinned and that the penalty of sin is death, but that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior and has paid that penalty, and that if you repent and follow him you will be forgiven and by God's grace, will have eternal life. I don't do this to piss off non-believers. Believe me, its not fun being mocked, cussed out, or (thank God it hasn't happened to me yet) beaten. I do this because my Savior wants me to, and because not telling them would be cruel. If I see someone playing on the train tracks and a train is coming, I'm not going to call out to them once, shrug, and then just walk away. I'm going to yell, wave my arms, and run toward them in the hope that I can get them off the track before the train gets there. Now obviously, I can't tackle an atheist and force them to believe, but I can continue to share the truth in love (not beating them over the head with a bible), and do my best to live so that my walk is also a testimony.
