Whatcha Readin'?

For me, Im currently reading (halfway done) Solomon's Builders by Christopher Hodapp. Basically it's a book about Masonic history, clarifications on a lot of general misconceptions, and slams the evangelicals quite a bit on their misguided knowledge of the fraternity. I'm not a Mason myself, but have been interested in their history and what they're about, especially with a few of the founding fathers and subsequent leadings up to the American Revolution.
Prior to that I read Dan Brown's "Inferno." Really interesting to ponder how something he brings up could so easily be completed by anyone really.
Tonight, I decided to bring back History that I haven't read in a while - Thomas Paine's "Common Sense."
I'm not much into science fiction. More than anything I prefer Military History and anything non-fiction. Some fiction has grabbed my attention before though such as Enders Game, anything by Dan Brown or Mr. King.

Nix the "science fiction" on the last paragraph. A meant fiction and was thinking of Enders Game while writing it and still typed it haha

I'm 1/2 way through Glenn Beck's "Control".
Lots of good info to counter the gun-control nut-jobs.

I just started reading the fourth book of the "Song of Ice and Fire" series (sometimes known as Game of Thrones.)
Finished book three about a week ago. Not a bad series of books, but can be slow at times.

My reading is behind, this year.
Last thing I read was a couple of months ago. "Marx & Satan"; but I forgot who wrote it. The author was making the case that Karl Marx was involved in the occult. Not unbelievable.

I have been reading Vince Flynn's series with Mitch Rapp. I am on the 6th one Executive Power.
For anyone who likes action thrillers these cannot be beat. From page one in each book it is a non stop ride.

Recently I read: These are all fiction, and of worlds with Dystpic/Dystopia or Apocalyptic world.
Patriots - James Wesley Rawles
Oryx and Crake - Margaret Atwood
Hunger games trilogy - Suzanne Collins
The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
The Fifth Wave - Rick Yancy
Forgot to add what I have been reading to my kiddos:
Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis We are on book 4 this summer. Kids are loving it and despite how young they are they are retaining a lot of it. They recount what is happening in the books to Dad when he gets home.
The adventures of Toad and Frog - forgot the author.
Starting to read:
The end is near and its going to be awesome - Kevin D. Williamson
Edit: added what I am reading to the kids, forgot about another book. Oops.

T Mom, what did you think of Patriots?
I finished it recently. I liked it, and felt it had good info as well as realistic content. What depressed me is how far I am from being able to prepare as suggested, due to being a broke honky.

The Birth of the West: Rome, Germany, France, and the Creation of Europe in the Tenth Century by Paul Collins.
Good read, the "dark ages" tend to fall through the cracks. I never knew Muslims sacked Rome in the 9th century.

I liked it. It did have good information. I tend to pick and chose what I am going to work on. I am a mama of two kiddos and have a loving gainfully employed husband. However, we don't have money to just throw away. So the hardest part of prepping for me was not having everything now. However, we do a little bit each month. I prioritized most important things to have first.
Like: (just an example)
Water
Food
First aid/meds etc.
Ammo
(not that I have any no, none at all, please carry on with your regularly scheduled program)
Moral objects, for kids and parents
(coloring books, toys, etc)
then the things we would love to have:
Big water filters
Change car to larger vehicle
(which I am happy we just did recently Yay!)
Proper shelving for preps
(should I have any preps =) )
We wanna get some Bivo sacks?? I think that is how you say it
Cool new camping stove
etc etc.
So my advice if you want it. Start off slowly, add a little each month or week or what ever your finances can support, and you will soon have a great start. =) good luck

Haven't read many books lately. Mostly I read National Review, Forbes, and American Rifleman. My father (former physics teacher) just gave me a copy of "Atomic Physics and Human Knowledge" written by Niels Bohr. Mostly I read politics, history and science.

I've fallen behind on my reading as well. I read "Empires of Light" this year, which is all about Edison, Westinghouse and Tesla and how they all brought about our modern electrified world. (Geek level is high)
I also read Glenn Beck's "Control". I highly recommend both books, especially "Control" because of it's excellent take on gun control.

My wifes been pushing me to red Game of Thrones...but the show is good enough since it has so many hot naked women. Queen Margaery....swooooon!
I'll read GoT when the series done, the guy takes years between books.
The Harry Potter books were entertaining I must say.

Just finished the Amity Shlaes biography of Calvin Coolidge. My brief review: a third-rate biography of a first-rate man. And boy, do we need a man like Coolidge today...
Just started "The Right to Earn a Living" by Timothy Sandefur of the Cato Institute. It's a history of capitalism and a discussion of natural human rights as they apply to our economic lives.
So many people who bleat about how precious is the "freedom of speech" refuse to recognize that the right to "freedom to work" is merely a different facet of the same jewel.
