(sigh) Broke my cherry

I broke down, and finally did it...
I bought a 1911 today. I KNOW! I KNOW! I didn't need it, but when I used my "Jew-Di" powers, and got it from $400 to $379? Yeah...
Someone took a Charles Daly, put a match barrel, stainless guide rod w/ 18lb spring, ambi-safety, target trigger, beaver tail backstrap, Hogue grips, and a commander bobbed hammer?
It was the price, and the set up I wanted... It's 95% complete... Now I just need carry night sights, and a ceracote in either dark grey, or get it parkerized.
It's kinda neat... I wouldn't mind having an officer's model...(sigh) Sh't. I gots da' 1911 on me!

I have a Charles Daly 1911. I don't like it because it never feeds right. I suppose I could get it worked on, but haven't had time or inclination. The magazine doesn;t stay seated deeply enough. If I hold it up with my pinky while shooting, it seems to feed OK.
Other than not shooting worth a damn, it's a neat little gun and looks pretty sitting in the gun safe.

I got it because it was someone's EDC (you could tell with the holster wear). I figured if someone spent the money to get it "right", and it feels good in my hand, and it's not a primary, but a toy? (shrugs) I gots a bah-gin!

Damn, Rev - - -
You don't have to 'splain yourself.
"I got it because it was a 1911" is all you gotta say. Right-thinking folks will slap you on the back and congratulate you.

I too have a Daly, but I use Wilson, and CM mags, no issues what so ever, once I replaced the main spring, from where the previous owner kept it locked open for who knows how long. They are good guns, congrats, the 1911 bug will just keep biting you over and over. I even went as far as to pick up the nice wrap around grips, guide rod, and comped barrel. Damn thing will put mag after mag into the center of a standard "pistol" target bull at 25 all day. I did lap the slide and frame a bit after I first picked it up, just a habit, but so far once I did those little things it has been reliable to the point, where I will carry it from time to time. I too want a commander to go with it, just to keep the full size frame, the officer is nice, but I want the full 8 + 1 capacity.
Nice find, and happy shooting.

Unlike you tech savy folks, I am a luddite when it comes to 'puters. I turn them on, know what they do, move some stuff around...
But I'm singing "Amish Paradise" when it comes to posting things!
