My new SR556E and new Nikon P223

I bought my NIB Ruger SR556E off of gunbroker for $1,000 a few months ago.

I put a Nikon P-223 3x-9x 40mm scope on top of it and I got the rifle pretty well zeroed at 100 yds with some Remington UMC 55gr FMJ, Federal 5.56 55gr, and Hornady Steel Match 55gr. This is one sweet rifle and I really like the fact that it does not have the quad rails up front. It came with the Rapid Deply sights form Ruger which are similar in style to the polymer Magpul flip-up sights. The Ruger piston system is really smooth running and I highly recommend this model to someone getting a first AR.

I hadn't picked up an AR type rifle since I was in the Army (around 1997) and I have never owned a rifle with a scope on it. This is kind of a new thing for me, but I had a blast putting some rounds down range. :fireright:

I reload for handguns so I'm also looking forward to reloading for the AR.

Thanks for the comments.
Although I have been shooting almost all of my 46 years, I had never owned a rifle scope until I got the P223. I was intimidated at first, but I think I managed to get it working right. I would recommend this type of ste-up for any first timer. The fact that I have 46 year old eyes helped with the decision to put a scope on it too. Once I get a riser, I'll install the flip-up sights.
