I don't know the size of any of he Brigades or Battalions, and I'm pretty sure that the Aviation folks don't have any squadrons of jet fighters. Looks like that have an OE-1 Bird dog and no much else.

Not that snopes is reliable - the fact that the exact same information was posted on the snopes.com forum in June 2010 leads me to believe that this isn;t true.

Can anyone verify the current state of National Guard units in VA? I know when my wife was in just two years ago, there was dual tasking for both state and Federal, which to me calls in to question the 'availability' of said troops to the Governor if he needed to use them to protect VA in a secession scenario. One of the things that led me to this forum was searching out info on the State Defense Force and militia groups, which unfortunately seem woefully inadequate....

I'm calling B.S. on this one.

snopes has been proven in the past to not be reliable and I trust it about as much I do the Southern Poverty group

But on this I think that I need my on until it is proven with reliable sources

It would seem to me, that if this were true, that the 14 governers in question, or at least one or two of them, would have raised a stink about it and it would have been all over the news. Well, maybe not the we Protect Obama news like CBS, NBC, ABC,.....you get my drift. I would also think that Fox News would have posted something about it.

I wouldn't put it past the president to do something like this, but I have to aggree with taggure on this one, time!

Yeah doesn't sound right. I'd also think it would be all over the place. I think the thing to track would be whether these SDF forces are really being created. No SDF force, no paper.
