http://clashdaily.com/2013/05/orwellian ... neighbors/

(1) a program for “violence prevention” that encourages Floridians to report their neighbors for making hateful comments about the government, characterizing dissent as an extremist threat,

(2) using “prevention intervention” units featuring specially trained deputies, mental health professionals and caseworkers to "respond to citizen phone calls to a 24-hour hotline with a knock on the door and a referral to services, if needed,”
.................................

No mention of anything resembling due process there, I note.

Seems to me like a very short step from that to being put on a "crazy list" by some half-trained, power drunk, 22-year-old caseworker fresh out of some liberal college sociology program and losing one's ability to buy guns and ammo and perhaps even one's freedom. Damned if the US of A ain't looking more like the gulag every day; at least if some of these liberal jackwagons get their way.

HMMM Guess that kind of statement is exactly the kind of stuff that would get me visited by the "prevention intervention unit".

I wonder if the "prevention intervention units" will also respond to complaints of witchcraft, hexing and possession by demons?

Yep. That's scary, alright. As gun rights fade away, so do speech rights.

Not surprising.

I was discussing this with my Husband last night.

This is sad, scary, and very worrisome. The opportunity for abuse is astounding. Not just for the goburment, but also for feuding neighbors.

Rest assured that there are MANY parts of Florida where that crap will NOT fly, Orville.

Yes, Spanish, for now that may be true.

But, there are parts where it will fly. And, that's what concerns me. Camel noses and tents, and whatnot.

"The program has sparked concerns that the hotline could violate civil liberties or even be exploited to pursue personal vendettas, with Bradshaw acknowledging that, “anyone in a messy divorce or in a dispute with a neighbor could abuse the hotline,” and that it will prompt “frivolous complaints.”"

So...you don't have to risk arrest for sending ricin to politicians and signing the name of your foe. Just make a phone call.
