Gun bill officially shelved

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will set aside proposed gun legislation on Thursday without a final vote following the defeat a day earlier of major provisions sought by President Barack Obama and Democrats in the aftermath of the Newtown school massacre, CNN has learned.
A Senate Democratic leadership aide said Reid can bring up the package of gun proposals again if circumstances change and he believes he has the votes for key provisions to pass, particularly a measure to expand background checks on gun buyers.
In a major defeat for supporters of tougher gun laws, the Senate on Wednesday defeated a compromise plan to expand background checks on firearms sales as well as a proposal to ban some semi-automatic firearms modeled after military assault weapons.

It'll be back. This will give them more time to get the votes - in the Senate and the House.

Great News. But they will try again. We need to have more pro gun legislation introduced. A National Conceal Carry provision. Can't let up now that they are on the run.

Agreed. We need to keep an eye on that sleezebag, and the 2 snakes we have in the Senate.
