"The Senate will vote Wednesday at 4 p.m. on the bipartisan proposal to expand background checks on firearm purchases and close the so-called gun show loophole.

"It will take 60 votes to pass, and Democrats are still shy of that number even with a full-court lobbying press by Vice President Joe Biden, as well as former Rep. Gabby Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly.

"Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell announced the agreement Tuesday afternoon, which includes votes on eight other amendments to the gun control bill."

Dirty deals done dirt cheap

Wow, for a body that wanted to have a debate about gun control, it sure didn't take them long to come to a vote. Wonder what percentage of the senators have even read the proposed legislation and bills.

Too bad we have wimps representing us.

For as angry as our president is over losing the fight on gun control. I wish he could muster that sort of anger against those who willingly kill American ambassadors and American children.

But he is a spoiled selfish brat that just got his hand slapped out of the cookie jar and wants to call cps on his mommy. You got your vote Mr. President now surely we can turn our attention to more important things!

What if all these amendment votes were lost so they could just vote the original bill through today? <shudder>

Light up those phone lines. Let Webb and Warner know we're holding them accountable.

While the amendments were defeated, S.649 is going to vote today on the Senate floor.
