New from Staunton
Hello. Here is my story, which I find somewhat interesting. As of December 2010 I had never handled or fired a firearm. I grew up in a town in New Jersey. Enough said. For Christmas of 2010 my father in law bought me a gift. We do not typically exchange gifts. We get along fine but are not close. He is not passionate about firearms and does not own a hand gun...but that is what he bought me, a buckmark .22. I still do not know what to make of the gift. We live in a more rural place now so was it a welcome to the club gift...or was it a you are not man enough to protect my daughter and grandchildren gift? Regardless, it was the best gift I have ever received. I had no idea how to use it so I signed up for the NRA intro to pistol class. I think that I might be the only person in Virginia to take that class with the sole goal of learning how my gun worked and not for the sake of getting my concealed carry permit (I did get the permit and carry daily for the record). Well, the class was great and my firearm hobby/obscession grew from there. I own multiple handguns but of equal important is my .22 rifle that I use at my home range off of my porch. My home range has 7 metal targets along with plenty of space for progresso soup cans. You cannot be recycled at my house before you are shot! My wife likes shooting clays and we have numerous shotguns most of which were pilfered from a family attic. My 4 year old daughter has pink eye and ear protection and likes to pull the trigger on the .22 rifle. She is getting a pink daisy bb gun from her grandfather (my dad) for her birthday. I also bought a .270 hunting rifle but my buddy and I weren't able to get out this year. So, I still have only killed cans. Just started learning to reload 9mm. I haven't made a round yet but I am working on it and have all the equipment and components. For a while I was looking at getting a revolver (mainly trying to convince my wife that she needed one to carry) but now I am looking at ARs for no good reason at all. All this in 3 years. Thanks for reading and I look forward to chatting in the forum.

The doctor can help you with your daughter's pink eye.
Now is the time for all good men to get off their rusty dustys...

Welcome!
FWIW, we got my daughter a pink Daisy BB gun for Christmas last year. Had never fired a gun before that. Taught her basic safety rules and shooting basics.
She fired her first .22 a couple weeks ago. The BB gun is now officially "not good enough."
Definitely the right move to start 'em early!
