I guess I should feel sadness about this...but I don't. It appears I left my compassion laying around somewhere, but I can't find it.

Sheesh.

Feel sorry for his parents, but not him. One less to breed more ignorance into this world, and yes I've done plenty of stupid stuff in my life but I survived them.

Some risky behaviors have more immediate results than others.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Hopefully Darwin took him before his genes tainted the pool.

Sorry for his parents, but that was a case of terminal stupidity.

So I walked around work a bit this morning, and I found some compassion laying around (tucked behind some dust bunnies in the far corner).

Do feel for the parents and family.

Still not feeling it for the "victim" and the other f-tard. You would think that, even through training as an Army reservist, he would no better.

I am totally flabbergasted. Why in they world would anyone point a gun to there head and pull the trigger unless they intended on killing themselves?

The first things I was taught about guns (as a child) is 1.) never point a gun at anything unless you plan to utterly destroy it; 2.) always handle a gun as if it was loaded even if you "know" its not.

I feel bad... but good grief, that is just stupid.

Even loaded with blanks a pistol can kill. Jon-Eric Hexum proved that.

If you're going to play THAT game, man up and play with a 1911.

I am constantly amazed that people really play that game. I just can't fathom what the entertainment value is.

The problem? Parents never teaching him proper gun handling...

Trigger well, ALWAYS empty, until ready to shoot, and anything that barrel crosses can potentially be destroyed.

I wish I could say that there is something you could do to stop these people from being so stupid but alas you can't.

One round in a semi-automatic pistol has been referred to as "Polish Roulette" by some...

Dient know whom that was.

" Hexum became restless and impatient during the delay and began playing around to lighten the mood. Apparently, he had unloaded all but one (blank) round, spun it, and in what would appear to be a game of Russian roulette, at 5:15 p.m., he put the revolver to his right temple and pulled the trigger.[6]"

"Hexum's death was ruled accidental.[10] His mother later received an out-of-court settlement from 20th Century Fox Television and Glen A. Larson Productions, the production team behind Cover Up.[1]"

WHAT TOTAL BULLSHIT!

When I was in college I was home for the summer. I had purchased my 1st gun, a Beretta 92 and would frequently manipulate it to become familiar with its operation while watching TV in my bedroom. I had ZERO firearms familiarity due to my suburban Shitcago childhood, and my parents dislike/ignorance of them.

Maybe a month after I had broken up with a girlfriend of several years, my father came to me to tell me that my mother was concerned that "she could hear me handling the gun and was concerned that I was playing Russian Roulette because I was upset that we had broken up."

I thought this was hilarious and I pointed out after I stopped laughing that:

A) There are other fish in the sea, and some of them have bigger sweater kittens than my ex. I am eager to locate such fish.

B) A semi-auto will fire if there is even 1 round in it, so that isn't very sporting, now is it?

Pretty pitiful firearms knowledge I thought, but this came from a mother who threw out over 25 toy firearms one day that I cherished and spent my own money on cause evil, and a father who as a kid knelt over a .22 LR with a hammer and bashed it "to make a loud noise." The bullet entered his knee with enough force to lodge inside.

He told his mother he fell on a nail in a woodpile. His story was blown when his chums came to his moms door and asked "Is Bobby dead yet?"

- What? Why?

- Cause he got shot!

Solution? A life spent in fear and ignorance of firearms. That is fail.

I would like to add that by name alone, Monkey, I have my eyes on you for possible addition to "the list."

Lol, that list keeps getting bigger.

Is there a special VGOF patch awarded to those who make the list? Or a hatpin, perhaps?
