By the way - the official term in Virginia is CHP or Concealed Handgun Permit.

Yes, we can only carry concealed handguns - not concealed weapons...Thats pretty confusing. I had to measure my folding combat knife to make sure I was legal on that one.

Welcome to the club once you get your permit. It took the Loudoun County Courthouse about
10 days to process my permit.

Congrats!
Got mine in Chesterfield several months ago. It took just over 3 weeks.
The permit is good for 5 years, and the card you receive is thin cardstock. Go to one of the office stores and get it laminated. My trip to Office Max for this purpose was one of my first outings carrying concealed.

Alright man, soon we'll have another armed citizen on the street who refuses to be a victim, woohoo!
Yeah let us know how long it takes, i forgot how long mine took to come in. I have a mistake on it that I would like to get corrected. I called the Prince William County courthouse yesterday & the young lady I spoke to didn't seem to worry about it. My weight is off by 100 pounds, so I think it may matter. I'll just make a trip past VA Arms when I take it.
