I fear for this country, not because of N. Korea, it because the buffoons in Washington are the people I would want the least to deal with them. They only have guts to go after their own citizens, with foreign dictators the are little pansies.

Sounds like a bunch of sabre rattling to me. JFK parked war ships near Cuba because the Russians actually had the capability to store nukes in Cuba. North Korea is just running off at the mouth again and will bait anyone into firing the first shot. I agree that if you're going to run your mouth you shouldn't be surprised when you get a punch to the face, but what do you want the US to do? We already have troops in South Korea and Japan.
Of course if their technology develops enough to get a nuke to California, I'd be torn between declaring war and sending them a thank you card.

The Norks would be eager to get a dirty bomb into the US, using Muzzie groups as the couriers. Where's Jack Bauer when we need him?

With North Korea threatening to pull out of the truce my worry is that the North will nullifie the truce and attack South Korea and if that happens we will end up going to aid South Korea and mean we go to war.

Let the U.N. handle it. It's their problem.

China gives NK tons and tons of rice each year just so the starving masses don't leave NK and flood an already over populated China. The US gives NK tons and tons of wheat just to try to keep them under control. If we would cut them off we could starve them into submission in 30 days. You know we will never do that.

It's sabre rattling, nothing more. Dictators have to appear strong and in control or else they get replaced. Besides, fear & warmongering against an external enemy is an age old political trick.

So South Korea and all the electronics you use won't be missed, eh? Ever hear of a little company called Samsung?

Remember NK is still a satellite of China. Start a fight with NK and China Will be forced to take sides. We go to war with China and life as we now know it will change forever.

"Of course if their technology develops enough to get a nuke to California, I'd be torn between declaring war and sending them a thank you card." -SB
Dude, we had the SAME thought! HOLYCRAP!
I know, I know! Cali gives us lot's of fresh veggies during the winter, and happy cows make happy cheese, etc... And California actually IS a beautiful state, and DOES have some conservatives there.
But as I stated to a Californian who refused to leave when they pass the AWB...
You do not stand in the middle of a forest fire, and piss on it, to put it out... You GET OUT OF IT, and stand on the sides!
As to NK? I think the saber rattling is because CHINA is having problems feeding it's masses. Between pollution, weather, and population increases, they're starting to get a bit "hungry" themselves!

The difference is that when comparing Russia and the Cuban Missle Crisis vs present day North Korea is that Russia was actually a legitimate threat or at least could have posed one. North Korea continuially makes threats about nullifying the armistice agreement, or "final showdowns" to the point where it doesn't even matter. They won't and they know we won't act on it just as we have had for 50 years.
They use their media outlet called the Korean Central News Agency to publish all that crap. If you get a few minutes Google the KCNA English version which is run out of a server in Japan. It's pretty damn hilarious. You'll see that the threats are a weekly thing.

Whether or not NK is sincere about their threat or not - we don't know. It's hard to believe them when it's threat # 1,465,283.
But they ARE a legitimate threat to South Korea. They have enough non-nuclear rockets aimed at Seoul to completely level it in literally an hour's time.
All it takes is the push of a button by a lunatic.

Who do you think made all of the integrated circuits inside each and every electronic device that you own? It certainly wasn't Vizio or Microsoft!

NK is like Colonial Williamsburg for Marxists.
A place frozen in time to experience in the present. Its basically just a badly budgeted living history museum at this point.
