Good restaurant in/near Petersburg?

Post by FiremanBob »

I am meeting a guy for lunch next week who's driving up from Raleigh. Looks like Petersburg or slightly south is about halfway for both of us. I'd appreciate recommendations for a restaurant around there that has great food, is moderately priced, and is not a chain.

Thanks.

Petersburg , Good Luck !!! The only place I would recommend is " Nanny's" Home Style .Exit 45 on Int.95 Crater Rd. 4 Miles S of Petersburg. I haven't eaten there in a while , not bad and priced fair.Less than 1/2 mile off of 95.

lol I thought I was going to offend someone's stomping grounds if I said it. I'm glad you did! When it comes to Petersburg, my experience has been "just passing through".

Doesn't have to be in, anywhere within a radius of a few miles north to as much as 20 miles south would be fine. He's driving up 95. Anything good in Colonial Heights would work.

Agreed, I live down that way with my girlfriend in Chester-hell.

Jalapeno's is VERY good, and gun friendly.

I like Rosa's Italian as well. It's the oldest pizzeria in the Tri-City area, and uses brick oven's for their pizzas.

Colonial Corner Shopping Center

Hopewell, VA 23860

(Off 295, Exit 9A)

Also, Gun Friendly.

There is a very nice Mex resturant on 460 just W. of the airport. I believe it's it's less than a mile from the I-81 exit, going west.
El Capara Mexican Restaurant

Mexican Restaurant

(If you request it, they may bring some really nice Habanero Sauce from the kitchen for your pleasure. You have to insist a bit sometimes.)

In Colonial Heights, there's Capt. Tom's on the right headed N. on Rt.1-301.

There are several restaurants in the Old Towne section of Petersburg. Not too far off of 95. A Google search will yield a few results. I haven't been to most of them.
We've eaten at Longstreets Deli in old Towne a few times. Hit or miss on the quality of service, based on who your waiter/waitress is, but the food has been good. Not sure if it's appropriate for a lunch meeting, but they typically have an interesting selection of a few microbrews on tap, too.

Petersburg recommendations:

Croakers Spot - the soulfood of seafood
Dixie Diner ---- this place has been there forever
Mad Italian - Italian and Greek
Saucys BBQ --- very good, Southern Living magazines best BBQ in Va. !!!
Kings BBQ -- been there forever

there's other places in Old Town area ... Wabi Sabi, Longstreets, Marias.....

Less than a mile north on 301/Boulevard in Colonial Heights is Vincenzos Italian, (609 Boulevard). They have a lunch buffet Mon-Fri......highly recommended!!!! Best Italian food in the area.
Captain Toms has a good shrimp/flounder lunch special on Fridays.

If you doing lunch I'd say go to Vincenzos.
