... I joined the 1911 club

I just picked up today a Sig Sauer 1911 with officer style grip with the added bonus of coming with Crimson Trace grips
I figure I will break it in tomorrow at SEG

Oh, that is nice!

Clean it before you shoot. When you do squeeze the trigger, hold the trigger for just a bit, then slowly release until you feel it reset. The 1911 trigger is different.

But, I can't hit squat...so, ymmv.

For comparison here it is with my P220

I will say it's a nicer looking Pistol by far, but the P220 is a lot easier to take down -hopefully I will get smoother with practice.

I'm thinking about buying a Remington R1 series.

Gotta love the 1911. I have a Dan Wesson, great gun.

Welcome to the 1911 family. My daily carry is a Rock Island Arsenal 1911A1 Tactical. That may change as soon as I finish my steel frame Commander build. I have four 1911s so far and am always interested in another.

One day I'll find an affordable WWII vintage Remington-Rand or Ithaca.

Don't forget to change your "Next Firearm" listing.

I took it to Silver Eagle this sunday afternoon to start breaking it in and it had the expected out of the box
Sig accuracy. The only issue I had is actually with my grip. My P220 doesn't have a thumb safety and not being used to it; I accidentally held it too high and managed to accidentally hit the thumb safety twice to reengage it while shooting. Took me a minute to figure that out; but with practice I'm sure I will eliminate that issue.

The conventional 1911 hold has your strong hand thumb resting on the safety while shooting. It will be a bit higher than you're used to though.

This is some of the best 1911 handling advice you will get. Yes, it may feel strange at first, but your comfort, confidence, and accuracy will all benefit.

With a 1911 (and other semi-auto pistols) you want your hand as high as possible on the grip. The thumb over safety hold encourages this.

I have a Remington R1. Love it. But then, being a 1911 fan, I would love any brand of 1911! :hysterical:

Nice gun Riposite!
