And don't come back to Virginia!

State Representative Under Fire for Letter
Cheyenne, Wyoming:
Cheyenne resident Audette Fulbright and her family moved here last August from Roanoke, Virginia so that she could take over a preaching position at a local church. They had three to four locations besides Cheyenne that they were looking at moving to, but finally settled on the Capitol City because they felt it was the best place to raise their children.

However, they have developed some concerns over the recent discussion of House Bill 105, which talks about conceal/carry gun policy in schools. In addition, the whole issue of fracking has them concerned as well. So, Audette sent a letter to representatives across the state voicing those concerns.

But one of the responses she received has her and many others fairly upset. That response came from Hans Hunt of House District 2.
Hunt basically handed this blissninny her head and told her if she doesn't like the political climate in Wyoming to get out and stay out. :hysterical:
Rev. Fulbright,

I'll be blunt. If you don't like the political atmosphere of Wyoming, then by all means, leave. We, who have been here a very long time (I am proudly 4th generation) are quite proud of our independent heritage. I don't expect a "mass exodus" from our state just because we're standing up for our rights. As to your comments on fracking, I would point out that you're basing your statement on "dangers" that have not been scientifically founded or proved as of yet.

It offends me to no end when liberal out-of-staters such as yourself move into Wyoming, trying to get away from where they came from, and then pompously demand that Wyoming conform to their way of thinking. We are, and will continue to be, a state which stands a head above the rest in terms of economic security. Our ability to do that is, in large part, to our "live and let live" mentality when it comes to allowing economic development, and limiting government oversight. So, to conclude, if you're so worried about what our legislature is working on, then go back home.

Sincerely,

Hans Hunt
Representative Hans Hunt
House District 02

Wow, a Virginian is considered a liberal out-of-stater!

I would hazard a guess that over half of the people in Albemarle county wouldn't be welcome in Wyoming.
Then again, her beliefs may be why she left Virginia.

It helps to put it into context when you read the letter that was sent to Hunt.

Dear Representative,

I hope you are taking care of yourself during this busy session. I know it is a challenging, compressed time.

I am writing to express my grave concern about House Bill 105. Ample evidence has shown that schools and guns do not mix, and in particular, guns in the hands of amateurs/non-professionals is extremely dangerous, especially in any highly-charged situation. to expose our children to greater risk in their schools by encouraging more guns on campuses is something that we cannot allow.

My husband and I moved to Wyoming not too long ago. We believed it was a good place to raise children. With the recent and reactive expansion of gun laws and the profoundly serious dangers of fracking, we find we are seriously reconsidering our decision, which is wrenching to all of us. However, the safety of our family must come first. We are waiting to see what the legislature does this session. I know of other new-to-Wyoming families in similar contemplation. Your choices matter. It would be sad to see an exodus of educated, childrearing age adults from Wyoming as a result of poor lawmaking.

sincerely,

Rev. Audette Fulbright

I agree with his reply. This migration has a lot to do with why states like Colorado have turned so blue. They find a place where there is money flowing due to red influence and move there to take advantage and bring their blue views and try to change it. North Dakota the current boom town and they are going through the same thing. Course now that California is ruined they are moving out and taking their liberal views elsewhere to ruin them too.

A politician with a set of balls has finally been found.

I hope they don't come back to Va.

Are the "professionals" the ones that shoot bystanders instead of their target in New York, fire over a hundred rounds at the wrong vehicle in LA., fire over a hundred rounds at unarmed suspects in Cleveland?

@moss - yes, because they are paid to do that. It's the compensation part that makes it a profession.

I understand profession. How are kids safer with only "professionals" that can't hit their target having guns around schools?

@moss - it's because they are professionals. I love the progressive circular reasoning.

Best. Reply. Ever. Thank Gawd we've still got GOOD politicians who understand that out of towners (or come-heres as well call em in the NNK) shouldn't have that big of a stake vice what generations of families have to say. It irks the living sh-- out of me when some city slicker/Yankee comes to the NNK complaining about how we run things. Dude... My family name has been in the NNK since 1670. That's as far as I've been able to trace my lineage in VA thus far at the least. That's 343 years of my blood in ONE area. Do you really think you have any claim in how it should be run? Really? If you don't like it get yer stuff and leave. Don't let the door hit you on your way out either. It has worked since the NNK was formed by fisherman and farmers. Guess what we still have? Fisherman and farmers.

Now, if you be a come-here and want to do positive and get in the community to help out, good on ya. I love them types of come-heres. They actually are the ones I would welcome more and more to VA. You support our views and ways of doing things instead of turning us into another god forsaken state. VA is Gods country. He blessed us with the first settlers and the finest folks. I intend to do my damnedest to keep it that way, such as Rep. Hunt above.

I really like the blunt angle taken by Representative Hunt. I wish more politicians would just come out and say "I don't like you and couldn't care less about your vote" when confronted by someone who is clearly the opposite of the positions that they stand for. Stop trying to take the middle ground. Stop twisting words and trying to make it sound like you're saying one thing, but in reality you're saying the opposite. Just tell it like it is - up front, honest and to the point.

That preacher woman gives a bad name to those called to do the Lords work. California would be glad to have her. Or, Canada.

Wonder if Rep. Hunt would consider a move to Virginia?

Taxachusettes lol! Never heard it that way before. Like I said, I come open armed citizens coming to VA looking to make a difference, not make a change (except if they're changing themselves).

yep, spent 17 years in Taxachusetts with all those Mass-holes! Even survived the Dukakis administration and saw some scary things in the state government under him! If he had become president we would have been having these debates way back then!

A quick Googling of the name reveals she is a hipster (based on her photo)

She's from Columbia SC originally, not VA.

She is also a Unitarian Universalist minister...that should put things into context.
