Average price for an AR-15

I purchased an AR-15 and I was wondering if the price was fair, I know they are inflated but I have seen them as high as 3000.00

I was not willing to pay more that 1400.00 but wanted to be in the 900.00 area.

This is what I found for 1400.00 is it worth it?

LOWER: Aero Precision AP15 Multi Cal .223/5.56MM Mil-Spec 7075 T6 aluminum, Rock River NM Stage 2 trigger.
UPPER: DTI 5.56 Nato 1:9 twist M4 style 16" Del-Ton branded Wilsion barrel.
Gunfighter Charging Handle
MAGPUL CAGE 1LX60 Stock
MAGPUL MOE Hand Guard
Mako Tactical Pivoting QR Vertical Foregrip with Integrated Adjustable Bipod
Millett 1X24 SP-2 5 MOA Dot Red Dot Scope
2 30 Round Mags

New / fired 30 times - built by Dealer for a customer.

I'm no professional AR15 valuator, but I'd say $1400 is a pretty fair price for that rig.

Since you bought it I guess you thought the price was fair. Just enjoy it and dont get buyers remorse. It certainly wasnt an outrageous price.

Yea, I know.. I hate to pay too much for anything, I am a tightwad..
I still have not purchased .223/5.56 ammo because of the price, I figure I will wait till it comes down
to more reasonable prices, although that might be till summer.. oh well.

I really don't think it's a fair price but with all that is going on I figured that it was at least in my price range and being a AR novice and only know that Colt uppers / Lowers are the best and to look for .223/5.56 stamped barrels so both can be used, and that's about it. Just trying to get some feedback from the experts here.

To be honest i never heard of the upper or the lower. But that doesnt mean much as there are so many freaking people making AR's these days. Sounds like you got a good barrel and a good trigger which is very important. In my opinion there isnt that much difference in AR's until you get into the really high end stuff. I cannot afford the highend ones anyway. You might find this link of intrest. http://gunfacts.webs.com/M4Chart1.gif

Aero Precision lowers appear to have a good rep. I researched a stripped lower before buying and found all positives.

thanks for the chart.

Guns and Ammo did a review on the Del-ton DTI AR-15
http://www.gunsandammo.com/reviews/del- ... 15-review/

All the reviews I have read have been positive.

So I had a gun smith in springfield take a look at it, I got some of the specs wrong ...

UPPER:Flat top receiver, Del-Ton DTI-15 5.56x45/.223 M4 Carbine Wilson barrel,
4140 Chrome Moly Steel, 16" Length, 1x9 Twist, Button Rifled, , M4 Feed Ramps, A2 Flash Hider,
Manganese Phosphated, Threaded Muzzle, M4 Government Profile.

LOWER:Aero Precision AP15 Multi Cal .223/5.56MM Mil-Spec 7075 T6 aluminum, Knights 2 Stage Trigger

MAGPUL CAGE 1LX50 ButtStock
MAGPUL MOE Hand Guard w/Picatinny Rail
Mako Tactical Pivoting QR Vertical Foregrip with Integrated Adjustable Bipod
Millett 1X24 SP-2 5 MOA Dot Red Dot Scope
2-Ruger 30 Round P-Mags

He said on average this rifle sold new for around 800-900.00 but with the prices on the rise 1200-1400 is a fair price,
it looked very clean, no visible wear marks so it's near new.

So overall I am happy with it... Maybe some day I will be able to shoot it, who knows

And the buyer thought it was fair because they sold it for the same price. That's how the price system and markets work. 3rd parties can't evaluate it for you.

Congrats on the AR! :friends:

Enjoy your new rig!
It sounds like you did your homework and worked with in your budget so enjoy it. If you feel a smidgen of buyers regret, no worries, I think everyone has been bitten by that bug at least once, and if it really bothers you just remember

"you never payed too much for a gun you just brought it too early"

Once again enjoy your new firearm!
