What Is This ‘Alien-Like’ Creature Found in New Jersey?

According to the New York DEC, the creature, which unfortunately met its end after a sharp spear pierced its body, appears to be a very large sea lamprey.

why is it unfortunate that it was killed? they are a parasite that feeds on trout mostly.

Believe it or not, My brother inlaw and i found one of these thing stranded in a mud hole beside the James river about 15 miles below Lynchburg. the water had got out of the bank and left it stranded there in the spring time.
