I broke down and got a Beretta.

Northern Virginia arms company was out of everything else (for those who havent been there recently) and I've always wanted to own one for myself. The crap we got issued in the Navy was bad enough to turn people off shooting for good. But after handling a friends well-maintained Beretta I thought I'd give it another chance.
Bought the 92FS Compact L, nickel. Took it out to the range and put two magazines (26 rounds) through it. Wanted to do more but ammo is scarce and expensive these days. Plus I wasnt shooting target rounds. I realized all I had was bulk cheap manstoppers, so I didnt wanna go buck wild.
It handled nicely, Beretta makes decent guns but they dont stand up well over years of abuse. When I was working security in the mojave desert we go some really bad weapons. Those things had seen too much and should have been retired a while back. Mine felt good. Smooth, clean, reliable, I had forgotten what it was like to have a light trigger pull. Been used to my LCP and P290. Also forgot that the 92 tends to kick brass higher than some other guns, need to practice.
Anyway, pics to follow soon. Setting up my camera is a lot of work.

If you have bandwidth concerns I highly recommend you go for the small. I cant post the originals, they are too large.
Also, apologies for the color, flash was giving me issues with glare so I turned it off. And if you see anything that looks like dust on the lens, thats just dust on the lens.

I am fine with the compact. It fits my hands nicely and 13 rounds is plenty, better than my P290. As its smaller than a regular 92 I may consider carrying it around if I can get a holster that fits it properly. You may have noticed the tactical rails, thats all that was available at the store. I dont plan on attaching anything, that would make it harder to draw quickly, but its there if I want it.

Good on ya! I have a PX4 and my old man a 92F service pistol. I love both but like the 92F even more. Can't wait til he passes it onto me. They're solid guns with great reliability. Im kinda irked the Coast Guard moved over to the Sig Sauer p229 DAK.

If I were buying a Beretta pistol, that is the one I would buy.

It shoots nicely, but I dont care for some design choices. They etched letters all over the place. It looks messy and I am of the opinion it weakens the metal.
Also its hard to get slim grips for the compact 92.
Anybody have suggestions? Amazon doesnt have much. I'd prefer aluminum but would be ok with rubber. Not hardwood.

I had already shot and cleaned it once so you may notice some smudges, also possibly from the Militec.
I really need to get in the habit of applying Militec BEFORE my first shoot.

Beautiful pistol! I'm also a 92FS fan after handling a good condition civilian copy of my old, nasty, Navy M9.
Some of the stuff the Navy issues really DOES turn people off from shooting.
Enjoy the new 92FS!

Its the exact same gun you buy in the store, but the ones we had were beat to hell. 10 thousand rounds, never any real maintenance. They dont shoot worth a damn.

Are pistol rails supposed to be standard? Cuz my fancy new laser doesnt fit on it, gun is just a hair too large.

That's a nice looking pistol. I like it!

More or less. However, very few are held to the tight tolerances we are use to on quality AR15 rails, etc. That's why my Surefire X300 is somewhat adjustable.

Depending on the laser it should have different keys that came with it.

I was playing around with the laser and holster and realized something, the Compact L 92 is just about exactly the same size as a Glock 17. Only it holds 4 fewer rounds, and it weighs much more. Its also harder to get in and out of the holster because the safety extends so far out from the body. Also the fatness of the grips makes it harder to hold than my Glock. (I got small hands).
Unrelated, I need an IWB that can hold both the gun and the laser, assuming I can find a way to get the laser on it.

Can the compacts take the M9 standard 15 or Mecgar 18 round mags as well as the 13 rounders. I have always wanted a 92FS Centurian since it carried better and not giving anything up to the M9.

No I dont think so. They are not interchangeable like Glocks (to the best of my knowledge).

Damn, I just realized theres a Compact M.

I might have preferred that, as it seems impossible to find skinny grips for a Compact L.
